Johnnyjay,

If you tell us the effect, maybe we could help you out. Or, find a routine that's similar to what your looking for.

Best,

Is this it? http:// http://www.mjmmagic.com/store/detour-de-force-by-john-bannon-p-1783.html#.Wj6Se2dAE10

If so, it is also written up in John's book, Smoke and Mirrors.

Detour deforce is a card trick effect, where there is a prediction in an envelope.A deck of cards are all numbered on the backs of every card.Someone selects a card and it matches the card in the envelope. In other words,it matches the number on the back as well the value of the card.Great effect!

Hi Johnnyjay,

I'm in Northwest Indiana. My PayPal is mpowers@mallofmagic.com which is also my email address. Send me your shipping info and I'll get the item ready to ship out.

It's a very good trick too!

I remember using it at one time, a good 'one off' card trick. If you liked the thinking behind it, John,  maybe you check out the creator's "Move Zero" DVD's.

One of the best 'self working' type tricks with a partial stack is Stewart James's "Further Than That". There's a whole chapter of variations on it in "The James File".  My version which adds a move to speed things up a little appears in "Magic From The Overground", but the original can probably be found included on some of the 'self working' card magic DVD's which have sprouted up over the past several years.
