Hello everyone!  There are loads of color changes and all "cardguys" have their favorites.   Several years ago I found a video tutorial for the Erdnase Color Change (sometimes called the Houdini Change, I think), by the extremely talented magician Elliot Terrell.  Although everyone here is probably already familiar with the change, his 7 minute tutorial (video download) is FREE and offers some great tips to make the sleight look absolutely stunning (at least it is in Terrell's hands!).  I mention it now since I happened to view the clip again recently -- honestly, I had forgotten how effective this change can be when done well!  Here's the link:

I have no affiliation with the artofmagic.com website, I just thought some of you may not be aware of it as a potential source of information.  Hope you can use it -- johnny

Thanks Johnny! I'll never tire of watching a well-executed color change. Maybe this link will inspire me to learn it for myself!

Dan — I’m sure you’ll like Elliot Terrell’s clear and concise explanation. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that move look so deceptive! — johnny

Hey, Johnny, thanks for the link. Nice instruction. I have never stuck with the move long enough to get past the initial problems, but I am trying once again to work through the move after watching how damn magical it looks in the vid.

I love the subtlety of angling the hand so you don't cover the card as much! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing.

Contains interesting subtleties, which I will sure use them to improve my color change (never shown to the audience so far).

AV -- It looks we are all on the same page here -- it definitely gives us "mortals" something to aim for!

Harris -- I agree, the "angling" approach really adds deception to the sleight and it is something I never considered (similar in part to Levine's Hurricane Change -- https://www.magicalapparatus.com/hurricane-change/harry-levine-up-close-and-poisonal.html [I am assuming that this link is legal]).

Alicauchy, the biggest tip I picked up is using your left ring finger to "pull" the switched card "in" without using the RH fingers at all.

Tom -- fortunately for us, there are some great magic sites to go to (like TMF!) with plenty of good advice, I think!

So much to learn....but always fun!  Thanks for all of your responses! -- johnny

John Cornelius's "Winter Change" also comes to mind. It's similar to the Hurricane Change and predates it, I believe. Jose De La Torre's change is a great one too.

Great video - thanks for the tip JohnnyNewYork.

After I signed up and placed the order (yes this is free), it just puts it into an online library where I can stream it via a private video on vimeo.  But is there a way to download the video to my computer, which I much prefer?

In my library from the site some of the videos have the option to download next to the Play button.  Apparently the Erdnase Color Change is not downloadable.
