Hello Everyone : )

Charley Charles of Four Suits Magic here, I was a professional magician travelling around (mainly) Europe in a Mobile Home for around 17 years (!) from 1980 - 1997; performing close-up magic to Terraces, Resturants, Society events and similar... At the time I knew of no other Magical Performers doing Close-Up to individual tables.

My teachers were Jean Hugard and Frederick Braue, David Roth, Harry Lorrayne, Veron & Ganson ..et al. All books.

I started performing at Covent Garden in London aged 15, with a Silent/Classical Music based Manipulation Show (Canes, Rings, Billiard Balls, Liquid in Newspar, CnR Rope); started performing Close-Up as Performance at 18, and discovered the joy of seeing audiences immediate atonishment.. Towards the end of my busking travells performed a 5:30 - 6 minute close-up show, based on Coin, Rope, Sponge-ball and a Burnt n Restored Finale, reasoning was that "they" (the audience members), create the Magic; they cut the rope, hold the sponges, light the Serviette... Yes I carried a Deck of Cards for the "show us another" moments though for the most part ascribe to the philosophy that Card Tricks frighten punters 😋

Met, Married and now no longer , am returning to my first love with a passion.

( i fixed computers for 20 years and still am, hoping to make Magical Entertaining a fulltime second revenue source - Close-Up , Parlour and Corporate Training are the Aims)

I have recently become a Member of the IBM Ring 102 here in Sydney, and am, of course, attending any and all Magic Performance that I can find, this evening will be "Spellbound" in Eastern Sydney : )

In the 20 Years that Magic was not an encompassing everyday part of my life so much has changed, possibly more than at any time, the learning resources now available are extraordinary, YouTube (Ramsey, Madison, Spade, Pigcake .. that Crazy Russian Dude are all amazing), there are completely new Branches - Cardistry never exisited, I remember when being able to do a Pressure Fan or continuous Charlier Cuts was the height of card mainpulation !

Hey, Charley, glad to have you here. That's quite the resume. And quite the place setting at your practice table. Enough to keep you busy for a long while. Look forward to getting to know you.

All the travels certainly had their moments : )

Its strange writing it all, lots of little Memory Sparks !

(first ever house of vogue fashion show in Prague just after the Velvet Revolution; Sultan of Dubai's son's 21st at a Massive Stud Farm in the South of England, Doing close up at Christiania in Copenhagen on a Summers Afternoon for "Beers Only" and ending up with 247 Beers stocked behind the bar, then spending them all with free beers for everyone  😃 )

Welcome to the crew, Charley!

I'm reasonably new and have found this to be a good place to hang out.
