Hi Fellas,

I'm currently working on the third volume of The HaLo Project - The Magic of Harry Lorayne.

I'm going to try and film the performances of three fantastic gems from Harry's books. One of them is called, "Triple Take" that's taught in Special Effects. Do yourself a favor and learn this! I did it for some friends last night and they loved it! It's Harry's kicker to a Bro John Hamman idea that was published in Genii Magazine back in 2001.

The other trick is called, "Cal-Q-Lator" from JawDroppers volume 2, which is a brilliant lie detector effect that is based on a Robert Neale idea. I don't know how it works (neither does Harry), but it's incredible! Again, I showed it to some friends last night and they thoroughly enjoyed it!

Lastly, I'll be recording "Spel(E)Gant". Any freely chosen card is spelled to. Another jaw dropper!

There are others that will be included in volume 3. I'll keep you posted.

In the meantime, if you have these books...learn them. You can thank me later 😉

Rudy

This is a fun topic!  Rudy thanks for doing these videos. It's great to see a trick and watch somebody bring it to life. If it's anything like the last two videos, I can't wait to get it!

I agree, Special Effects is one of my favorites. Have you tried About Face on page 26? Really nice!

Steve Cohen sent me an article by Jamy Ian Swiss - not one of my favorite people  - about me.  I was pleasantly shocked as I read it. Hope I'm doing this right...here's the link:

“cares” is not the word, Harry!!

I have always had mixed feelings about Jamy’s writings. I have enjoyed the comprehensiveness of his reviews but found them often veering too far towards adulation or meanness (as oppposed to an even tempered opinion). Hey, opinions are opinions... but reviews shouldn’t read like held grudges, which is how I thought some of his reviews in Genii Magazine read.

What started the difference between me an Swiss was some decades ago (we were "friends" before then - he was close to Scotty York and Scotty and I were pretty close friends) when he did a review of one of my APOCALYPSE volumes for an important magic magazine. It was a good review, but his last line was - "It's a big book, but nowhere as big as Harry Lorayne's ego."!    He lost me there.   So, was pleasantly shocked when I read his article mentioned above.

(I made a remark about that - with the word "cares" that you refer to - but seems it "went the way of all flesh." I don't know why - but unimportant.)

Wow! What a memory you have! You should write a book!!!! (Ha!)

Seems like the “ego” line was a cheap way to get a cheap laugh.

Even in your Apocolypse days you were such a giving and generous person. No one goes through the effort of writing and structuring as many books and journals for a small magician audience as you have done without a desire to give back to the community as a while. Mr Swiss should have known that.

I've never read anything by Jamy, so I'm unaware of the tone that you (and Mike) speak of, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading this wonderful article.

Thanks for sharing this with us, Harry!

Keep 'em coming, Rudy. Think about 15-20 years from now. They will be so glad you did this project.
