Welcome aboard.
People have been saying good things about your card work.
I'm looking to check it out once I get back from the East Coast Spirit Sessions.

Hi John, I’m so happy that you’ve joined us.

I believe that you will find this to be a very friendly and respectful community of magicians. We’ve worked hard to create a forum where we can speak freely about magic, without fear of being disrespected or flamed by trollish behavior. I believe that we’ve accomplished that.

I look forward to getting to know you and trust that you will add incredible value to our community. Welcome to the Magician’s Forum!

Rudy

I'm very pleased to see John Carey here!  John Carey, Harry Lorayne - wow, this forum has some great names that I really respect!

John wouldn't boast about his own qualifications, but he deserves a bit of a shout-out, so I'll do it for him (and he's not paying me to do this - he doesn't even know that I'm posting this!).  For those who don't know John, he's an experienced close-up magician from the UK with solid credentials. He performs regularly at events like weddings and parties, is an in-demand lecturer and teacher for magicians in Europe and the USA, has authored three books on magic: Crafted with Carey, Minimalistica and Carey Files, and is the creator of various magical effects, particularly with cards.

What I especially appreciate about John's style is that he's well-known for streamlining effects and turning them into practical and hard-hitting magic. Relying on clever thinking and good presentation rather than complex moves and techniques, means that his card tricks are usually quite straight forward to learn, and yet pack quite a punch. Designed with lay audiences in mind, they distil routines of unnecessary sleights and complexities, and turn them into effects that retain the impact of magic while ensuring that they are also very doable.

I personally enjoy routines with clever plots and powerful magic without knuckle-busting moves, and I have recently enjoyed some of his digital downloads (e.g. John Carey Collection 1 and John Carey Collection 2 - I'm especially fond of his "Pseudo Vernon" routine).  I see that John has already shared a number of tricks elsewhere in the forums - thanks John!

Hey EndersGame, you’re a little behind the times!  John Carey has a brand new book entitled Me, My Cards & I.  It’s fantastic!

He also has several DVDs, three of which I own:  The Essential John Carey, Impossible Location Tricks, and Carey On.  All containing superb, direct, ingenious effects.  Highly recommended.
