hello everyone and merry xmas. my name is rick and I am sixty years old. I have been performing magic since I received a magic set on a Christmas morning fifty years ago. I consider it my religion as it has instilled me with confidence and diligence to make each new performance better than the last. my favorite forms are mentalism and mental magic. the sources that have inspired me the most are Anneman , Corinda, Waters, and Ted Lesley. I recently lost my friend and mentor Ray Goulet who taught me many things, most importantly, that above all magic must ENTERTAIN. I look forward to meeting new friends here.

It’s so nice to meet you, Rick. Sorry to hear about your friend, Ray. How wonderful that he made such an impact on your life. I look forward to getting to know you better.

Merry Christmas!

Rudy

hello Kaiser, hope your holidays were fun. Example; the spectator shakes three different color dice in a coffee cup and turns the cup upside down, the mentalist names the numbers and colors of the dice without raising the cup. That is mentalism, using supposed powers to see or divine the dice colors and numbers. Same cup , the magician asks the spectator to look into the cup and remember the color of the die with the highest number and the cup is again turned upside down, the magician waves his hand over the cup and the die with the high number appears atop the cup, the cup is lifted and the other two dice are still there. This is mental magic. the magician uses magical powers to materialize the correct die atop the cup. (This wonderful trick is called "Double Whammy" by John Kennedy). Mentalism is giving the appearance of ESP or spiritualism.

Guys,

I like something Chris Carter say's, " The magician manipulates objects, the mentalist manipulates beliefs. "

The latter is not easy to do...

Best,
