Saw a post about TMF while browsing so I figured I would check it out. Like it much better than some of the other online forums out there in cyberspace.

Anyway, my name is Don and I live in Santa Fe, NM. As is probably true for most of the others here, my interest in magic began before my teens, and have only been active on a periodic basis. I am a retired dentist who went to cooking school after working with the Indian Health Service for my entire dental career.  Lived in some remote areas and used some slight of hand/close up stuff to divert attention and have a bit of fun. Been a member of SAM for more than 30 years and IBM Ring 90 for 13 years. My special interest is in bizarre Magick. I have attended a number of gatherings, mainly in Las Vegas.

Looking forward to some good discussions

😉

Hey, Don! Welcome. I lived in Jal and then Las Cruces back in the early 90s and traveled around New Mexico, including Santa Fe and, naturally, Roswell! They call it The Land of Enchantment for a reason. Attended a couple of magic club meetings in Albuquerque with a friend from Cruces, but it was a haul as you know.

We have at least one active member who is into Bizarre Magick and no doubt he will be along to say howdy sooner or later. Lots of card and coin lovers here, general close-up, and more. Jump right in and be a part of things!

Welcome Don!

While bizarre magic isn't what I practice mostly, I do use a few bizarre effects to catch my spectators off guard from time to time.

Glad to have you here on the forums with us.

Hi ChefDon

I don't perform biazarre magic but I am fascinated by story-telling and strong presentation, both of which seem to be hallmarks of that branch of the art.  I look forward to your contributions to our community.

No I am not. I did live in several of the tribal communities whom I served (back in the '70's). I found that using magic I could break down some of the fears associated with dentistry and me not being a tribal member. Amazing what a little bit of slight of hand can do.

Welcome Don. How much more readily would I have visited the dentist had he shown me a magic trick or two?

Welcome and enjoy.

My dentist just did some sleight of hand by extracting upper left 27 while simultaneously charging my Visa card.[biggrin]

Welcome to the family! I say family because we have all the dynamics. Sure we squabble, we have differing opinions, but like a family we have each other's backs. There are some great people here. Lot's to see and  learn. An awesome place if you want to improve your magic and go from being a guy who does tricks to a magician.

Glad to see you here!
