Not sure whether to park this post here or in Close Up Magic.... see goes!

I'm looking for tips and techniques on the Haunted Key.
Best style key?
Can you point me to a source?

Tommy

Dee Christopher's book Deep Shadows teaches his amazing routine called the Devil's Key. That being said, I think the same routine can be found in his Halloween Deal.

If you're looking for a more classical approach, Penguin has a "Spirit Key" that will do the job. I would Also suggest looking into Pablo Amira's Haunted Key pendulum. I haven't yet purchased it, but it looks fantastic and Pablo has some of the highest quality products on the market.

Pablo's Haunted Key Pendulum- http://mentalismcenterpendulums.blogspot.com/p/haunted-key-pendulum_20.html

Hope this help!

You also may want to have a look at Barrie Richardson's version from Curtain Call. The key is normal, and can be fully examined. The key's movements are surreal.

There's a 66 page PDF called Heavily Haunted by Dale Hildebrant at Lybrary.com . Got good reviews, but a little pricey.  As for keys,  I have a few, but Rich Hennessy made the best. Unfortunately, he's no longer with us.  Viking, Magic Maker, and Royal all sell a key.  Check eBay they might have some.

Hi,

two other, not so well known sources:
Englands Roy Johnson has a genius idea for the Haunted Key on the flat palm (not for the middle finger version) that allows you turn the key slowly controlled the full 180 degrees! Not just 90 degrees and then it falls flat.

And Richard Osterlind wasn´t mentioned so he demonstrates the way he does it and the way he is thinking aout on one of his Mind Mysteries DVDs. (I think it is also written up, would have to look it up later.)

Go to an antique shop and look for keys there. You can find some genuine antique ones that will work well. The Royal keys are nicely weighted and I have used them, but they just have too much chrome for my taste. I know you can age them, I'd rather just have a genuinely old key.

I bought a lot of 20 old keys on eBay for $20. They were great and 80% of them were perfect for the HK.

And this is the way one needs to hold it so it works its magic...

I know I’m late to this thread. But if you know the secret then go into any antique/flea market and look for the old style keys and try them. You will be amazed at how many work. It’s how I get mine. I love this effect always have one on my key chain and everyone asks me about ‘that old key’
