Hi everyone.

I live in Las Vegas NV with my 3 kids and my wife. We have been here for 8 years. So far I would say that the absolute best magic show that I have seen here has to be Penn & Teller. Those guys not only have some of the best stage routines that I have ever seen, but my son and I met them after the show and they are genuinely good guys.

I have been practicing magic as a hobby for about 5 or so years. Unfortunately I do not perform much, and when I do it is within a very small circle of my kids, my wife and maybe 1 or 2 coworkers. I would like to continue to grow and become confident enough to begin performing in front of strangers...maybe I might get up the courage to try performing on Freemont street some day.

Most recently I have been rereading my Tarbell series and trying some of his "experiments" as well as some other card sleights.

Anyway, thanks for having me here. See you around the forum.

Hey, Kam, and welcome to TMF. Glad to have you here. I have seen P&T three times, and enjoyed every show. (When I saw them in the early 90s they were performing a piece called MoFo, the Psychic Gorilla. Until it wore out from over-washing, I was the proud owner of a "MoFo Knows" tee shirt.)

Like you, I perform primarily for family and friends, with an occasional foray out into the real world for a whirl. These public performances are the result of a challenge posted here on TMF by EvilDan, who I am sure you will meet shortly.

Jump right in and be a part of the scene - the more the merrier and "magicaler."

Welcome aboard.
There's a lot of magic going on in Vegas. Have you tried attending one of Jeff McBride's Mystery Schools? That'll put you on a good path.
Otherwise, grab some magic and check out the boards. I'm sure you'll like it here.

Evil Dan,

I actually had not heard about the Jeff McBride's Mystery School before you mentioned it. I looked it up and while it looks like an amazing set of courses, I'm afraid it is currently a little outside of my magic budget. Maybe in the near future I will be able to save up enough (and start dropping some major hints to the wife on Christmas gift ideas :-) ).

Hi Kam

Welcome - we are all on voyages of discovery here.  Many of us here are amateurs, some are full-time professionals, and some are gods of magic - each reader can decide his or her own category 😉
