He's Not Here by Jamie Daws and Alakazam
$32 or £22
I picked this up a couple of weeks ago and thought it worth recommending to you lovely people.
Personally, I absolutely love creepy stories so Jamie Daws’ Dark Series effects would always be off to a flying start for me. This is his third release in the series.
This is actually a very simple trick, presented with torn photographs, but with a spooky story woven around it that really messes with a spectator’s head. Because of its simplicity, the power of the effect is down to the art of the story teller and their imagination. This is a description from the ad-copy:
“He’s Not Here is the third instalment in the Jamie Daws Dark Series. While a haunting story is told your spectator is drawn to an image of a man in an old photograph. As the story unfolds the full dark legacy of the tall man is revealed. The man appeared to many and his appearance was always followed by death. Yet no physical evidence of the stranger was ever found. Was your spectator staring at a ghost?? He’s Not Here is a clever yet haunting effect with a chilling tale, beautifully weaved throughout. It’s easy to perform and will certainly send a shiver down your spectator’s spin!”
You get everything you need in the pack, together with a full instructional DVD, which also contains a PDF of the instructions and script, plus JPGs of the photographs should you want to print more copies.
In addition, you also get Jamie’s The Forgotten effect, also performed with photographs, and all the instructions and props needed.
I think that anyone who likes to tell a good tale when performing a trick would love this. As I said, it is really, really simple with only a tiny bit of ‘process’ that the spectator need engage in but this is lost in the whole. The quality of this product is superb, as seems to always be the same with an Alakazam release. Highly recommended.
