Really great lecture, almost 3 and a half hours packed with superb card handlings, subtleties, meaningful insights, history and great stories about Larry Jennings, Michael Skinner, Charlie Miller and of course Dai Vernon.

And you know you are in the right place when John Luca and Tom Gagnon come in to join this lecture.

Another great "Thank You" to Rudy and Steven (of course to Mr. Hamburg, too) for setting this up!

Hello Forum Members! Everyone above has said it all --- this was a very enjoyable and informative lecture -- tricks, stories, and strategies from a seasoned veteran that I know I'd probaby never learn elsewhere. Howard is apparently 78 years old, but you would never know it with his energy and obvious love of close-up Magic, giving all of us well over THREE hours of great ideas that we will all be sure to use. VERY special thanks to RUDY, STEVE, and HOWARD for giving all of us this opportunity, and thanks to all of you for supporting these wonderful lectures! -- johnny

This was an outstanding lecture.  I know Howard gave his email address, but is there any chance it can be posted here?  I'm not sure I heard it correctly.

Can we ask both John Luka and Tom Gagnon to present lectures as well?

Here's the link to the lecture!

Thanks again to all who attended. I know that there were a couple of sound issued, but I truly believe that Howard gave everyone there money's worth. Nearly 3 1/2 hour hours!

He did a fantastic job!

Fred,

probably you need to send Rudy a PM with the e-mail you used to register and he will give you the necessary permission to watch the video (that is the problem most of the time). The other thing could be that you need to start session on YouTube to watch the video. You must use the e-mail you used to register.

HI Fred,

Luis is correct. I have to set the permissions for the video using the email address attached to your YouTube account. Send me a private message and I'll fix it ASAP.

I'm so glad that you enjoyed Howard's lecture. Thanks for being there!

Dear Mr. Gagnon,

After Howard finished with the eloquent statement about what magic meant to him "Friends and memories" I shut off the camera. Howard was tired. He really left if all on the field. Though exhausted, we spoke.

"Let me tell you something about Tom Gagnon," he said.

Howard then proceeded to sing your praises... and for quite some time.. until, quite frankly, I was sick and tired of hearing about what a fine man and monster magician you are. I was like, "O.K. Howard... I get it! Tom Gagnon is wonderfu!... for God sake enough already."

Apparently, Howard is quite fond of you.

I hope you will plan to lecture for the forum... just not right away. I need a little time to de-saturate.[biggrin]

I couldn't catch the lecture live due to a gig. But, I'm slowly going through it now and I got too the false cut just a little past the 1 hour mark. I just got my money's worth.

Soooooo glad I bought this at the last minute. I almost forgot.

I was watching Howar's (I just love the "D" story, don't you?) lecture and when I saw Tom Gagnon was on I said we also need a lecture by him. Some people expressed the same feeling and I think it would be great to have that lecture if he is willing to do it. I have known about him since 1986 (he's been around a little longer than that) when I bought the Classic Magic of Larry Jennings book, which Tom illustrated. I have his 2 books and have watched some of his videos on Youtube where he demostrates those impossible moves he has come up with and I would like to learn, at least one or two.

So I hope Tom agrees to give that lecture in the not so distant future, I am sure he has lots of things to teach...

Please, pretty please Tom...!

What a great lecture and one I'll never forget. Thank you Rudy for everything you have done for this forum, to be a great place to share and talk about anything magic related.

Would love to see an  Allan Ackerman lecture. He actually lectured on Mother's day on May 11th 1997 in my bike and magic shop and it was fantastic.

Here is a Table of Contents for Howard's lecture.  Please note: I have not indexed any of the wonderful stories or words of wisdom Howard shared with us - you'll just have to watch it again to enjoy them.

Also note: I indexed to the nearest minute so you may have to back up or jump forward a few seconds to find the exact starting moment of each item.

I haven't seen the lecture, but I noticed that at 3:30 there was a performance only of "Lucky 13".

I just wanted to share a clip of Howard's wonderful Mystical 13:

Is that related in any way to the Lucky 13 that was performed in the lecture?
