Hello,

Anyone familiar with Impossibilia by John Bannon.  How'd you like it?  Any favorites or 'must see' effects?  TIA

A very good book with many fine effects. If you'd like a taste without buying the hardback edition you can find it on sale in Ebook format at https://llepub.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=8&zenid=osog19n5dvoj35l28a18i9m3n1 for $5.39 At that price you can't afford not to check it out yourself.

It's a great book. It's the book that put John Bannon on the map. Get the ebook. What a great price!

One of my faves. Play It Straight (Triumph) is the lead item, and after that the material remains strong: Discrepancy City Prediction is number two. Shriek of the Mutilated?! Great effect! While I haven't performed it for many years, when I did it always killed. I recommend Impossibilia to any magician's attention, along with Smoke and Mirrors. And if you don't mind e-books, the bargain mac pointed out is a steal. Grab it if you can.

This is a beautiful hardcover book with a gorgeous dust jacket. The material is very good and I always recommend to those new to Bannons magic to start with Impossibilia. The book may be cheap, but it is worth it to acquire the real thing- you won’t regret it.

Notable if approaching from the perspective of familiarity with later Bannon works: a sizable chunk of the material in this book is non-card. That could be good or less-good, depending on your preferences. Everything Bannon does is good, though. Flip to any page and find some bit of cleverness to get your creative engine fired up, even if it's in the context of a trick you won't do as is.

If you're at all curious about it, get the ebook. Hard to beat that deal.

Just about anything by John Bannon is worth the money.  It is, as I often read on this board, The Good Stuff.

Yes, it is. I have written here before that Bannon, at least to me, has become one of the best writers in magic. His breezy, conversational style is reminiscent of the standard set by Harry in the 1960s, and his clarity is impeccable. Bannon adds a sprinkle of wry humor and storytelling to his delivery that I like a lot. As with Harry, you really get the sense that Bannon is sitting across the table guiding you through the moves. It is an impressive feat for any writer, but especially a writer of what are essentially textbooks.

I'd be hard-pressed to pick something from Bannon's work that I like over any other.

And the flip side of that is, there's nothing 'Bannon' I've bought that I was dissatisfied with!

The book is great, the eBook is an awesome deal.
