Hi my American friends,

I just want to say that I hope that you won´t get hit by "Florence"!

Take care of you and your familys and I hope you get through it without any losses!

All the best,

Thanks, Axel. I am in central Georgia so we won't be affected by Florence to a great extent; just some rain and wind later over the weekend. This time last year we were whipped by Hurricane Irma and even this far inland it was a booger bear. Brought my daughter up from Miami and it turned out she caught more of the storm here after it took a turn toward the Gulf. The folks along the Carolina coast are in for a ride. Here's wishing them the best.

Harrisgagnon, who lives near Charlotte, NC, I believe, might be affected.

I live just off Hilton Head Island, SC. Initially it looked like we had escaped Florence BUT now it is predicted to come in at NC and then turn left and head south. We are watching everything very closely. Three months ago, my wife and I had planned a Caribbean cruise for Sept. 8-18. We are on the ship now and have abandoned our home. IU tell people on our boat when they ask innocently "Where are you from?" "We are from South Carolina and had a mandatory evacuation...so that is what we are doing." There was initially a mandatory evacuation of the Hilton Head Island area, but that was later rescinded. Hope we have something to which to return. Should have packed my magic in water-proof boxes.

Be careful, all others in the "path." This is a hurricane not to be neglected. Looks like a wide-spread and days long disastrous event.

Peace...Fred  (Reisz)

Well, that pesky hurricane came in and decided to turn North instead of South. Hope you guys are safe in the Carolinas. I see some of the worst inland flooding due to rain may still be to come in a few days with rising river levels, scary stuff.

We ended up in a shelter last year, no fun.
