Can you give us some specifics...   You got the best of both worlds in that you got explanations and then put it to use as experience.  I don't want to put you under hot lights and GRILL you but sitting on the outside I like some insight as to what you came up with. Some general principles maybe?

I hate to do this but could you be more Specific in what you are asking? I have no problem discussing in detail whatever you want to know, but I want to make sure I know what you want to know first..... ya know?

p.s. I truly appreciate your conversation building question! Let the hot lights flood my body!!

LOL

I don't know what to tell you ...  while I am aware of many of the techniques involved I am a prop builder and hypnotist... Not yet a magi. One of the first rules of hypnosis is that while the therapist is ALWAYS vague, the client is required to be specific.

But you are right, guilty as charged! I was trying to get a conversation going to see what I could pick up here and there....

Congratulations!

Here's a concrete question - what did you choose as your opener, and why?

Only if you are willing to share, of course.

I opened with a version of teleporting deck that I am working on. Set up is two separate wooden boxes that fit a deck of cards in there box it them. The deck starts on the table jumps from box to box and the ends up in my pocket! It got a good response as far as that trick is concerned! Its flashy, I've gotten it pretty clean and it gets the audience paying attention!

Congrats on the successful show.  A 45 minute set is serious business!!   I don't think I could go on for that long!

That sounds like a great opener - visual, energetic, magical, low-stress for the audience.  Builds your confidence and theirs.
