He was performing at the Melbourne Magic Festival, and I was lucky enough to be able to get tickets.

He was absolutely fantastic, hilarious and amazing all the way through. His handling of a heckler was incredibly impressive to watch, and he stayed around at the end to talk and even signed a deck of cards for me!

(He actually borrowed a deck of mine for the performance that got destroyed, but gave me a brand new pack to make up for it).

A very epic and enjoyable night!

He is a true pro and very approachable. Met him at a Midwest Magic Jubilee. He was looking through a booth full of vintage books. He was dressed as Phil then so he wasn't nearly as imposing!

Lucky you!

Was there any particular effect that stood out in your mind as baffling and without explanation?

His whole routine was masterfully done, but his closer, a drawing duplication while his eyes were duct taped and the picture was constantly facing away from him, was absolutely incredible.

What really struck me though was the way he handled the audience.  He was so fluid and natural with his lines, and amazing at keeping up the energy and interacting with the audience.  He certainly didn't act like he didn't have decades of experience as a professional showman!

Max is masterful in his presentation and controlling spectators. That is why it appears he is doing more than "showing tricks".

I saw Max at Magic Chicago about a year or two ago. I had seen him a few times at lectures previous to that. His show was fantastic. His "I'm smarter than you style" works even though you might think it wouldn't. Somehow he ends up being likable. He's a very interesting and likable guy in real life. I really love his performing persona. It seems that it might not work, but it does.

His show was outstanding. There was a running bit with whether a nickle was heads side up or tails side up. It's resolved at the very end in a very cool way. I'm not going to reveal it. You should see this show.
