I had what may be an inspiration on how to add a twist to the Ambitious Card, I sat down and worked out the logic behind it and I think I can work it.  I then promptly searched the internet and haven't been able to locate anyone else doing the variant.  I'm not sure if I actually found a variant or if I just figured out a trick that others have been doing and I just haven't found yet.  If anyone has even seen someone do this, please let me know.

The routine as viewed by the spectator would be:

Select and sign a card.  The Magician explains that by signing the card they are altering the card, making it different from every other card in the deck.

The Magician then explains that the card is now so different that he could find the card while it is still face down in the deck.

The cards are spread face down to reveal that one card has a different color back than the other cards, this is the spectators signed card.

The card is then buried into the deck and jumps back to the top at the Magicians command.

The Magician then marks the back of the signed card and the card is once again buried face down in the deck and again jumps back to the top at the Magicians command.  The card can then be given out as a souvenir.

I meant to put this in the Card Magic area, is there a way to move it?

Excellent thinking because you came up with it independently.  But this is quite common, maybe not in the exact sequence but the idea is the same.  Other variants are the the spectators signed card is found face up in the deck and the back is a different colour.  All the other card backs change color except the signed card.  One spectator signs the face, the other the back. card comes to the top eventually the card is given away.

But don't let this discourage you, keep on thinking...and your method may be different than others.

Thank you for the motivational words Bmat.

When I get a chance I'll film it and post it.  The variant with front and back signed sounds like the most similar to the effect that I'm trying to accomplish, however with the method I worked out it wouldn't be possible.  The one I'm using would require the magician to be the one to mark the back side and then the spectator would see that mark go into the deck and suddenly rise to the top.
