Hi Alex, I'll keep the time difference in mind as we plan our next gathering.

Maybe a Saturday morning at 11am?

I hope that you'll be able to drop by for just a bit. If not, let's chat soon!

Charlie, If you get some time today...you and I can try a quick test call.

Let me know when you're available.

Will this be a permanent link we can bookmark or does it change with each called session?

Not really savvy about Google stuff...

I've been educating myself on the ins and outs of the venue that I'm using for our online sessions.
While Google Groups allows up to 35 participants on a call, only 10 of us can be on the screen at any time.

When we have a lecture...that's going to work fine. But it seems like we'll be a little more limited when we want to have a more free session where we each have the opportunity to share what we've been working on.

I'd like to still have our online gathering this Sunday, but I'm going to see if it can be a lecture instead of a session.

Details to follow.

Rudy

I just tried this at home with my wife...looks like you'll want to download the "Google Hangouts" app for the easiest access to the session.
A gmail account is also recommended (but not necessary).

So far there are 11 of us registered. Should be fun!

We just finished Doc. It was a great jam session with cool contributions from all. Special thanks to Rudy for putting it all together from both sides of the Equator. Nico Pierri had our heads spinning with his smooth faro work!

Hey Rudy, thanks for the fantastic session once again!  I may not be very active on this forum for a while, primarily due to that gigantic box you guys saw.  I just wanted to talk about that trick you were trying to show us.  It triggered a memory for me on a piece written by Jon Racherbaumer called 'Counting on Lothar', but is apparently based on a method from Richard Vollmer based on a principle by George Kaplan called the 'natural card'.  I'm not sure if any of these have anything to do with the trick (I guess I'll find out when I finally get through volume 3), but just in case that rings any bells or you want to do more research into how it works.

I just read where you've only been at magic for 15 months! I have to say that your technique is very smooth--particularly under the circumstance of performing for other magicians. While brainstorming over the handling of your final phase, I was inspired to consider a move which I've not used with cards before. I played with the Han Ping Chein revelation last night. I really think I'm going to add it to one of my favorite routines. So... thank you for the inspiration!

Wishing you all the best at Card College!

Thanks that means a lot!  I'm not sure if I can take credit for that inspiration, but I'll do so anyway!

Hi Screenguardguy...I had a great time with you fellas! I'll have to show you how that trick works again.

I had duplicate 10's in my deck, so that through the whole thing off.
Here's what it's supposed to look like when it works!   https://youtu.be/WSh05HSY8HA

Gus (one of our members) posted the following info about the effect in Card College that is very similar...

"Great trick! Purely by coincidence, I happened to be looking at the Jon Armstrong card magic DVDs last night, and on volume 3 Jon does a very entertaining version of this very same effect which he calls "Numbering." Great presentation. He gave his source as an effect called "Numerology" on page 700 of volume 3 of Card College. Card College credits the original idea/inspiration to Martin Gardner, with improvements by Henry Christ and presentation by Richard Vollmer. What a gem! Jon's version uses the F--- Shuffle to position a selected card, but the F--- can be eliminated with a little cleverness if anyone reading this has trouble with that technique. If not for this post I might never have noticed this little gem. Hope to have an opportunity to read Kircher's book at some point. Thanks, Rudy!"
