If you haven't seen Tom Gagnon's, "One Card Ribbon Spread Pass" check out the demo.

http://tomgagnonmagic.com/videos-c-2.html

I'm wondering if it needs to be done on a close up pad.

His other spread pass demo looks amazing too.

From the website adpage: "Due to the nature of this sleight it should be learned using a new deck of cards on a padded surface."

Man. It's been a long week. How the heck did I miss that?

For what it's worth, Tom told me that it actually doesn't require a close up pad.

I'm going to get this.

Maybe it just needs it for practice until you get it. It looks good. Do does the one below it. They look similar. I really like this though. I'll be getting it as well. Have to figure out which one.

Tom has squeezed so much mileage out of the spread control concept. I've known Tom for many, many years and get to see him demo the move and the myriad of applications that he has come up with. He's a very creative guy and relentless on finding applications of a move.

In fact I saw him a couple of weeks ago at Abbott's Close Up convention showing the move and many routines involving it.

Tom may be able to do it without a pad, but I doubt that very many people will find that possible or at least feasible. It seems to me that you'd need a very large pad and a deck that spreads easily. I'm guessing that Tom's pad is about two and half feet wide.

Sorry for bumping an old thread without any contributions. I was just wondering if there are some complications on the website, because this is a card thread that is in the coin section of the forums.

There is another one regarding the top change too.
