REVIEW:  Move Zero Volume 4 by John Bannon and Big Blind Media

RATING: 10 OUT OF 10!

FULL REVIEW:

I don’t know how he does it, but he does.  John Bannon works hard, studies thoroughly and produces over-the-top killer card magic.  I wonder if he made a deal with the devil to come up with such great stuff.  Of course I am talking about Move Zero Volume 4 which contains some of the strongest card tricks one can perform.

I have previously reviewed Move Zero one through three, which you can find at the following links:

In the prior reviews, I used language such as:

Excellent! Highest marks!! Get it!!!

Move Zero exceeded already high expectations.

Bannon and Big Blind Media have outdone themselves, again!

Don’t delay, don’t pass go, don’t collect anything, just trust me and get this DVD right now.  Bannon is brilliant as always and better than ever.

These quotes apply with equal force and effect to the latest release, Volume 4.

It must be repeated that Big Blind Media has set the gold standard for magic DVD production in the way that they have put together all four Move Zero DVD’s.

Although there are some tricks here that I found to be amusing, but would not perform, this DVD has several powerhouse effects that are show stoppers and magician foolers.  A few tricks get honorable mention: Second Reckoning, Depth Charge and Triplicity.

I have to say that I have been performing Triplicity for many months and each and every time I do it, the reactions are 10 out of 10.  This DVD is $30 (which is a steal) and I would have paid that amount for Triplicity alone.  Trust me on this one!

Just like the other 3 DVDs, Bannon teaches magical concepts with professorial fluency and gives us insight into his process and approach to magic.  This is not just a DVD that teaches tricks, it teaches magic theory and more.

I cannot recommend this DVD strongly enough.  It again gets a perfect score for the abundancy and strength of the magic.  Thank you John Bannon!

For any of my fellow bibliophiles, Triplicity may also be found in John's most recent lecture notes, titled Lucky. There are several other excellent effects in the booklet, including my personal favorite, Proxy Shock. John's take on Twisting the Aces is also interesting. I almost immediately adopted about 3/4 of his presentation.

Startup, while I certainly believe you about the reactions you've received with Triplicity - and John praises it to high heaven in the text - I find the automatic placement process to be a bit of a booger for spectators, especially if more than 10 or 11 cards are flashed. It's asking a lot, don't you think? Or perhaps it's just a personal limitation? Maybe. Anyone else out there got an opinion?

As always thanks for the thorough review!

I know what you mean, but I think that it becomes a non-issue if you believe it should be a non issue.  A bit of chatter and patter and the few seconds to count 20 cards passes very quickly.

Yes, and... My concern is less the procedure itself, but rather the pressure felt by many spectators to recall a card under those conditions. It's an uncomfortable position for many. Hell, even remembering a card during a standard pick-a-card trick can be a feat for some! (Which is why we have them show it to others.)

You mentioned that Triplicity is one of the strongest effects on this DVD.

Is there any relationship between Triplicity and John Bannon's Duplicity, which he released as a separate effect, and effectively an updated/revised version of Twisted Sisters?

Ender, Triplicity is unrelated to Duplicity.
