I'm working on building a set that hopefully would last about 10 minutes.  I already know that my weakest skill is putting tricks together well and just wanted to run what I am thinking of doing by everyone to get some input and or guidance.

Routine:  The power of attraction

The spectator selects and signs the ace of hearts.  They are told that the ace of hearts has a special power of attraction and by signing it, that power of attraction is amplified because they added their personal touch.  They then place the card back in the deck and they cut the deck into four piles followed by shifting a few cards around.  I then feel each pile to find their card and then use their card to attract the other three aces, one from each pile.

Doing a variation of twisting aces, they are given one red card and the two black cards are turned face up.  Due to the power of attraction, their card magically jumps from my hand to theirs.  At this point I move to a four card four coin matrix using the aces, using their card as the card that attracts the coins.

What do you think of the flow?  Is that a powerful enough ending?  I've done the sequence by myself and it works out to about 5 minutes but know thins will slow down when dealing with spectators.

Are the coins produced magically, or produced from a pocket or purse? Unless produced magically, the coins do not make sense in context.

There are countless thousands of four Ace routines in the literature. Have you studied them to find elements you might incorporate?

Av,

I've only been working on putting it together for about three days now.  As of right now I was going to just have them sitting next to the close up pad.  I know there is an endless number of four aces tricks but would I be able to stay with the theme of attraction or would I end up morphing into just a set of four ace tricks?  If that is the case then the signed and found card might not make sense at the beginning.

I think you'd easily find plenty of effects that would suit your theme of attraction. Here's a good place to start if you're interested.

Having the card signed makes sense in context. Since it is the signature that renders the spectator's card and attractor, why not focus on that aspect more? Make it as personal as possible. Make the spectator the star.

The important thing here is that you are thinking and asking for feedback. That indicates that you care, and since that is the case I have little doubt that, with persistence, you will find what you're looking for.

Keep at it, and best of luck!

Personally, I'm no fan of a singular theme, but that's probably just me. I love a running bit, Like Goshman's Coin Under, though.

I think your time is better spent selecting several great tricks and routining them, concentrating on getting in and out of them.

PS I think I just did something that always irritates me when I am on the receiving end - answering a question that wasn't asked. If so, I apologize.

i/m,

Regardless of the wording, the implied question should always be how to entertain the audience and for your input I am appreciative.  I believe there are more ways to skin a cat than any of us know and am always looking for different opinions on how to achieve the goal of entertainment.

I will have to take a look at what I have and go from there to determine if there is a way to pick the best of the bunch and logically routine them together.
