Rudy (who is very busy right now) asked me to let you know about our next session, which will take place Saturday April 7, at 2:00 PM (Pacific Time) which is the regular time for these sessions. The link to register is here:

https://goo.gl/q6B1rQ

I hope the link works for you since it is the link I get when I open Rudy's message. Please try it and let me know if you have any problems to try and find a solution.

Rudy is sorry not to post this himself and with such short notice but he's been busy these days.

This is what Rudy sent:

If you see something similar, then you are good.

I use Google to register and I get an e-mail to confirm I am registered for the session. If you did the same you should get an e-mail on behalf of Rudy, telling you you are registered for the session. I don't know what happens when you register with an e-mail or Facebook (the other two options you have to register). The image above is what I see when I click on the Google button to Register or Log in (after I register o course)...

Thanks to Rudy, and all the members that shared some terrific magic. I was able to log on in view mode only but eventually my screen locked up for some reason. Was great while it lasted.

HI Mac1054,

I'm so glad that you were able to join us. The session was recorded and those who attended, will get the link very shortly.

What a great time!

Rudy

Hello Forum Members — I wanted to thank everyone who participated in today’s session and concur with the posts above — great ideas and routines were presented and shared, and I’m sure everyone left with plenty to think about. If you haven’t had a chance yet, be sure to sign up for the next one — the sessions are one of the very best aspects of this forum! I enjoyed and learned a lot, and I appreciate the opportunity to discuss magic with all of you. Rudy once again deserves a very special thanks — now a busy Grandfather who still makes time for these great FREE sessions. Thanks again guys! Johnny

Got there late also but what I saw was great. How does one join in as a participant? I got an invite but can't figure out what I have to do to get on. Great session.

There are 10 places for participants (Rudy, the moderator, and 9 more + 90 viewers) and you need to get an invitation from Rudy to join. It is a window that pops up and you accept the invitation (clic on a button) and that's it. You need to have a camera and a microphone working within your operating system and if Google Hangouts is used, I think you need to install an add-on provided by hangouts itself. You need to install it only once and when you do, you are part of the session. You may want to install it beforehand and this is for the Windows version -->> (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.talk&hl=es_419) so you don't waste time when the session starts.

I hope this helps...

Hi fellas,

For those of you who joined us for today's Saturday Session, here's the link to the recording:

Thanks for joining us! It was fun as always!

Rudy

p.s. For those interested in the deck switch that I demonstrated, it's from Ben Earl. You can buy it at the following link...

The deck switch was pretty smooth. I'd love to end a card set with Martin Nash's Ovation or Darwin Ortiz's The Ultimate Cardshark, now that's possible or even doable.

Everybody that performed or did something was quality stuff, I am glad I was there.

I should mention that although I call that the "Cardini Shift", I actually did make one or two minor changes. Not because I'm a genius, but because I misread the instructions when I was around 14 years old. But I've been using it for almost 40 years. The original is published in Greater Magic.

Thanks,

Hi John

I've had this problem in the past - apparently it is caused by a mismatch between the email account I used when I signed up for TMF and the one I used when I registered a Google id.

Rudy has straightened it out for me in the past.

I did a quick search of the Vernon "Inner Secrets" trilogy for that move ... didn't find it there.  I still think it was Vernon though, so I will check further.

Robin - are you talking about the 3 Card Monte move that Steven mentioned?

Meanwhile I'll see if I can find the Wesley James reference I was talking about.

Hi Mike

I was trying to give a source for the switch that started the session - originally an ACR move, but adapted to a transposition routine.  The sound on my laptop cut out after just a few minutes - it came back just before I had to leave for dinner.  I plan to watch the recording of the session tonight - somebody may have already sourced the move!

I did a bit of research on the move I attributed to Wes James viz. the idea of secretly adding a card onto an outjogged, signed card and the wrist turning to kill the condition. The, when the LH turns palm upward again, the left 1st finger pushes the outjogged card flush. It seems that the top card would be the signed card. But it is now second from top.

Wes has a detailed description in Enchantments on p. 177. The move apparently appeared in Garcia's Super Subtle in the early 1970s. After describing its use in his Ambitious Card routine, he goes into great detail about its origins. Marlo had something similar in the 1940's. Wesley talks about the differences and similarities etc. There are plenty of names mentioned. He seems to be claiming credit for the currently used handling. But it's not clear that there is general agreement about that. He mentions that Darwin Ortiz credits someone else.

Another murky crediting situation....

"The loading move used to switch the king of hearte for the selected card was published by Wesley James in 1973 under the title "On The Up and Up" in Frank Garcia´s Super-Subtle Card Miracles. At almost the same time, Tom Ellis published essentially the same move in Pallbearers Review. This clearly seems to be a case of indipendent invention, so the title "James/Ellis loading move" seems to me the fairest approach."
Darwin Ortiz, Cardshark, The Psychotronic Card, pp 14 (-19)

I´ll check the Tom Ellis handling mentioned.

Hm..just checked the Garcia book because the title referenced by Mr. Ortiz sounded quite strange to me (Super-Subtle Card Miracles was one of my first real magic books and I didn´t remember that title...)...there it is titled: "Coming Up in the World".

Axel

PS:  I should have checked Enchantments first because there are the correct credits mentioned...

Helder,

Were you in the session? If you were, you need to send Rudy the email you used to register for the session so he can give you access. If you weren't, you need to be registered for the session and be there during the session so he can grant you access.

Hi rready,

I think you're referring to the "Willis Kenney Deceptive Control" which was featured in my Card Corner column in the Linking Ring in Sept. 2017. It is a thing of beauty.
