I have a confession to make. Last evening, my wife and I went out to dinner with friends. During the deciding-what-to-eat and waiting-for-the-food periods I was practicing my four coin vanish (John Carney Streamlined Cylinder and Coins) and my fingertip coins across under the table. The good news is even my wife, who was sitting next to me didn't notice. [biggrin] I told her later and she just gave me the eye roll. [rolleyes]

Has anyone else done something similar?

I don't recognize the vanish but I sure recognize the eye roll! When a package came to the door today, my wife asked me,  "what's that?" When I replied, "some magic stuff", I also got the perfect eye roll and "I should have guessed!" line. Wish I could make her vanish.....[rofl]

I almost always have a deck or two and frequently fiddle around practicing when opportunity presents itself. Say, in the theater, waiting rooms, or wherever. I find it no more odd than those who are glued to their screens. My wife endorses and supports my love (obsession?) of magic and has never once complained or rolled her eyes about my card handling habits! [biggrin]

I dont leave the house without certain coins. I'm playing around with them all the time. I'm assuming that is what it takes.

I have practiced with cards while listening to lectures in uni. I don't go to the theatre without a pack of cards. At first I got self-conscious, but no one really cares as long as you're not making any noise. Honestly I need the practice.

I am shocked!  Shocked, by a student putting his time to good use during lectures.  Most of my students have their laptops open all through my lectures, and I'm pretty sure they are all watching cat videos and/or playing Farmville.

I do one hand cuts to keep myself focused on things, and at work I practice little sleights with our Cribbage cards, usually during lunch. Sometimes someone will look at me to see what I'm doing and I'll do a snap change or palm vanish and sarcastically go "magic magic magic..."
