The 2018 Atlanta Harvest of Magic convention is less than two months away, and it is my understanding that only a handful of tickets remain. The lineup is incredible, the price is right, and Ken Scott is promising a few more surprises to come.

I fondly recall the Atlanta Harvest of Magic conventions from the 1980s and look forward to attending the one upcoming. Here's a link in case anyone else is nearby and interested. If any TMF members are going, or decide to go, please let me know and we can arrange to meet.

Spent three of the last four days at the Atlanta Harvest of Magic convention and it was a blast. I won't write up a long boring essay, but will instead hit on a couple of the highlights, at least for me.

* Had the the chance to meet IRL and mingle with fellow TMF member Tommy Ellison.

* Spent some one-on-one time with Danny Garcia who generously worked with me on an unpublished move he calls the Perpendicular Top Change. He is in the process of filming the move, along with three others, for publication in the near future. A can't speak about the other three, but the top change is killer. Well, it is in Danny's hands!

* Hung out at the bar while Asi Wind blew everyone away with his card work. Man, the kid is incredible. Until meeting him and seeing him perform in person I did not have a high opinion of him, but I am now a certified fan. He is republishing his book before the end of the year and I plan on grabbing a copy. Not that I will ever attain his level of proficiency, but that won't stop me from studying his technique and incorporating what I can.

* Adam Wilbur's lecture was excellent. My only exposure to Adam was through his appearance on P&T Fool Us - where he did fool them. He is an excellent card technician and generous with his time, talent, and knowledge.

* Josh Janousky was a pleasant surprise. I almost skipped his lecture and that would've been a mistake. He tipped lots of great, practical material, including his original impromptu bill penetration. Good stuff!

* Had never even heard of TC Tahoe before, but what a wonderful performer he is! He sold his Penguin lecture at bargain basement pricing, and if it's even half as good as what he taught live...

* Ran into an old acquaintance in the form of Mike Hummer. Mike was a demonstrator in Al Cohen's shop for years. While stationed in D.C. back in the late 80s I used to hang out in the shop - who wouldn't? - and Mike was almost always behind the counter.

* I was floored by a kid who goes by Mario the Maker Magician. Primarily a children's performer, he has so much positive energy and enthusiasm that it is hard not to catch it when you're in his presence. He is a seasoned performer who also builds many of his own props, as well as working robots that he uses to get kids interested in STEM. Wonderful!

*Other performers included Bill Abbot, Stewart McDonald, Levent, and Fielding West.

* This was my first multi-day convention in almost two decades and I had a great time. Stayed up too late, got up too early, ate bad food, drank good beer, and can't wait for the next one!

I saw Mario the Maker Magician at the MagiFest last year. It was a highlight! What a fun show.

I saw David Soloman lecture last Friday, and he made mention of you, Mike.

Was the mention in regards to a 21 card trick?

T. C.  has been around a long time, he even put out a magazine at one time. Funny, knowledgeable guy.  Sounded like a great convention. Glad you had fun.
