I thought we could have a little fun and do a little remote viewing since I can't really think of some good topics to post at the moment. The set-up is;

I will give you a letter/number sequence. That number matches a picture which I have to the right of my laptop.

The Picture can be anything. A place, A concept..anything that can be photographed.

You must submit your RV results either here on the thread or, you can PM me. You only get one chance to hit the target photo, so give it your best shot. I will not give anybody any hints to the target.

The submissions that is close to the target photo will win~
1st Place- A Blue Onyx Teardrop Pendulum, retail value $10
2nd Place-A Tarot Tote Bag Black /with Owls on it

Ok let's start...the target number is

((( C952A40)))

This contest will end in three days. Good Luck!!!

Nobody knows the target photo except me.

So it's major Tom? Either that or a photo of James Randi.

Space, rockets & NASA and all of that are a legitimate targets for the test.

PS Mr. Randi is not the target photo.

I also thought of an airplane so I would say it is a military truck/vehicle.

I'm getting what looks like a native American teepee. At first I thought it was a sail from a sailboat.

Write your impressions down on paper..let one image flow into another, try not to stop at the first image, let it flow..

Well, the contest is over. I am sorry to report that no-one had a direct hit on the target photo. But I said i would give out a prize to the one's that get close to it.

What was the target photo of..it was of a beach with the sand & shoreline with palm trees in the background. About 70% percent of the photo shows the water & ocean. At the top of the photo there is a sunset surounded clouds in the sky.

There are no people shown in the photo.

The one who got the close to the target photo was Rudy with his submission of a boat, So Rudy wins the RV contest!!!!!!! I am also going to throw in the book Pendulum Power by Nielsen and Polansky.

For 2nd place I have Paul Hallas and his submission of the Statue of Liberty. While the Statue of Liberty has nothing to do with a tropical island, the Statue of Liberty is surrounded by water!

I thought this was a fun thing to do, I hope you enjoyed it too...

Paul, PM me your mailing address so I can send you your prize.

Thanks to everyone for playing along!

Wow!! Thanks Mind Phantom! Now I can't say that I've never won anything 😉
I appreciate the creative ways that you help keep our community engaged in the Magician's Forum!

I'm going to announce a little contest of my own very shortly in anticipation of Harry's new book, And Finally.

Congratulations Rudy!

And I still don't see the relationship between the description of the photo and the number. I thought the number was part of the photo or something. Is it the name given to the photo by the camera?

In my participation I said it was a vehicle and I thought it was like a registration number or something... LOL

Anyway... well played Rudy and Paul! Enjoy your prizes!

In remote viewing the item is given a number & that, and only that, is given to the remote viewer. It's like a point of contact. In our test I had the number written on the back of the photo. You don't have to do that to remote view...but that is a method though.

Oooh, another contest. I just placed my pre-order for 'And Finally' (as well as ordered Classics Collection #5 and Jaw Droppers #2)

So, to finish out this part of my Harry collection, where can I get Jaw Droppers 1 at a semi-reasonable price?

I was just speaking to a friend of mine yesterday who actually participated in an experiment in remote viewing.

If he wasn’t someone that I trusted, I would think he was lying to me. Because I know and love him, the story that he relayed to me caused me to question my understanding of the nature of reality.

While empathetic toward the beliefs of others, I would recommend anyone failing to take this thread with more than a pinch of sodium chloride grab a copy of Carl Sagan's The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark. Read it. Absorb it. Learn it. Live it. The chapter titled The Baloney Detection Kit is particularly enlightening

I recommend the Sagan book too. I taught a course at Holy Cross College in South Bend called "Great Ideas in Science." That book was part of the course.

What does any of this have to do with magic?  And why was my post deleted?  I sincerely asked for an explanation of what's being discussed here, because I truly don't understand any of it.  What gives?

Cannot answer about your deleted post. Perhaps the mod who made the decision will PM you.

Remote viewing is the purported ability to "travel" without leaving one's chair; to see things at remote locations through the use of psychic powers. Remote viewing, believe it or not, was seriously studied by the governments of the United States and the Soviet Union, among others, in the 1970s and 1980s for the possible purpose of intelligence gathering. In the United States the designation MK ULTRA was assigned to the "serious" study of psychic phenomena, including telepathy, telekinesis, and remote viewing. Uri Geller was among those hired by the government. Your tax dollars at work.

As to your question of what this has to do with magic, it is posted in the mentalism section, and remote viewing is a conceit often used by mentalists. Rick is adept at coming up with intriguing topics that generate conversation. As he stated, this was an attempt to have a little fun.

Hope this helps shed some light on your questions and concerns.

I am thinking about doing remote viewing with a dollar billl, for example hitting on the serial numbers and the letters.

Thinking of a few methods to make the switch happen with a borrowed dollar...can't do it on an open fourm like this however.

Any ideas? Or, any thoughts or methods where I don't even touch the dollar?

Thanks for your explanation and definition of "remote viewing", Anthony.  Much appreciated.

I feel like this forum is not the right platform for this type of stuff. I understand this was meant to be fun but how are we supposed to participate if we don't believe in it? Wouldn't it have been better to just say hey I have a picture here guess what it is instead of forcing people to accept this premise of remote viewing? Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say that a belief in spiritism or psychics is bad, to each their own, I just don't see how that fits into magic unless it's presented in such a way as to not push those beliefs on other people.

P.S.  I know Rudy is a Pastor so I could be completely wrong in my statement of this being the wrong platform.

Hi Bulla, It's great to see a post from you. I feel like it's been awhile. I hope that all is well with you.

I appreciate your comments, but don't necessarily agree that anyone is trying to force people to accept remote viewing as a reality.

I personally don't believe in remote viewing, but I still tried to guess what was in the photo next to Mind Phantom's laptop simply because I know that he's always trying hard to provide us with interesting topics to comment on and it was a fun way for me to interact with him.

It's important to me that people feel free to bring up topics that interest them (even if they may not always strictly pertain to magic) and that we each maintain the freedom to engage in the conversation or not to.

One of the things that help me feel like I know our members a little better and makes this feel more like a real community, is to know about what interests you fellas in all aspects of life. Are you married? You have kids? You a musician too? The fact that some of you know that I'm a pastor (although I never try to flaunt it) gives you a little more insight as to who I am beyond magic. I hope that makes me more human and less of a screen name.

Of course, I don't want us to engage in public debates about religion or politics. But, I do hope that we all feel free to talk about the things that interest us and help others get to know us better.

Thanks,

Rudy

No.

I wasn't trying to force my beliefs on the members of this forum.

Do I have a belief in Remote Viewing? Yes and No..50/50. I once took a online test on RV and got a direct hit of men parachuting out of a plane, and that was on the photo!

What are the odds of that hit?  Astronomical if you ask me. Could it have been luck, or maybe a concidence? Maybe.

I also took the online RV test where I got semi-hits, or got no hits at all, and results where I have been WAY off. If I could RV consistanly all the time and get direct hits all the time..I would be in Las Vegas or Wall Street..I'd be rich!

Considering that my OP was in the Mentalism section of the Forum and many mentaliist's do routines based on the premise of RV, why not have a contest, you know?

Are you suggesting that we can't talk about things that are paranormal in nature? I hope not. Talking about all cards all the time this place would get rather boring, fast.

Sincerely

Rick

The US government did testing on remote viewing. Think about how powerful that would be. Most failed. But I remember hearing talk of one guy that was able to describe what was in a folder, in a certain file cabinet, in a certain room, in the Pentagon. That's all I know. I don't know how many times he was able to do something like this.

In the PEA we did a remote viewing experiment at one of the Meeting of the Minds. Pretty much bombed. We sent a few people to a location and we were supposed to see if we could describe their location. So was this remote viewing? Maybe part thought transference? All I know is it didn't work.

I was just driving to pick up a prescription for my daughter when My Wife called me. After giving her a general idea of where I was going, I asked her to guess where about I was by viewing my location remotely. She asked me what the heck I was talking about :-)

The interesting thing is that she guessed exactly where I was!

I had to send her a photo at a stoplight to prove to her that she nailed it! Coincidence or proof that remote viewing is true?

I would say it was a great guesstimation. You gave her some information and with that she correctly guessed your location, based on what she knows about the general place where you all move around.

If you had given her just some cryptic information like a number or some random letters (or a combination), she would have had a harder time saying where you were or what picture you had in your mind with just that.

Just my two cents.
