Just read on Genii that Tom Mullica is in a coma in hospital.  I saw him in New York many years ago. Fantastic performer and comedian. All the best Tom.

Pretty sad news, he was a great guy.  A "botched" hernia operation is the news.

Sad, yeah. He's been in bad health for quite awhile now.

from Richard Kaufman post today on Genii Forum  02/17/16 Today 03:38 PM

"This is just a message to let everybody know that Tom Mullica went in for a routine hernia operation which apparently was botched blood clots formed and he had multiple strokes organ failure and he's now in the hospital in an induced coma. It doesn't look like he will be coming home. Please send good thoughts his way."

God Bless Tom Mullica. I was just studying his recent Penguin Live lecture. He looked great and was in good form.

Yes, very sad news indeed. I never met him but I've heard so many good things about him from other magicians. Praying for him...

Rudy: I think this kind of posts should have a special category like "News" or something similar so they don't get buried somewhere you would not look for them.

There seems to be some confusion as to whether he has passed away or not.

Terrible news. I've lost a friend. A friend who was the funniest magician I'd ever seen, who made me laugh out loud, hysterically, as he also fooled me! This was at his bar in Atlanta, GA. Difficult for me to type here because I'm crying at the same time - I'm reading a note from him to me that's framed over my right shoulder on my wall - he'd attached a plaque that was on the wall of The Tom-Foolery Bar - he said "for very special people" and ends the letter saying, "I love you very much." Tom was a "very special person" and I loved him very much. This is just terrible.

My wife and I saw Tom in his tribute to Red Skelton.

After the show, he autographed a book, but I don't remember the name, could have been Tom's Foolery?

I think it has a red cover. The book is in storage (with most of my other magic books).

Harry, I'm sorry that you lost a dear friend. I imagine that living such a long life, is a double-edged sword. To watch so many of the people that you love go before you.

I'm saying a prayer for you and for all of the folks who loved Tom and counted him as a friend.
