We have Gerry Griffin's place at https://www.calmagic.com/ and that's pretty much it. There are magic clubs in Northern CA and the occasional magic auction here and there. But, I have to drive a distance to get there. What is it like where you live? PS:There is also Misdirections Magic Shop in San Francisco which has a decent selection of stuff and lectures.

Where I live, there's not much. An hour and a half away in Atlanta the scene is good. There is an active IBM Ring (9), and SAM Assembly (30). The clubs sponsor events, including a monthly magic night at a downtown cafe, and frequent lectures. The Atlanta Harvest of Magic convention, once a yearly event, takes place every other year. The next iteration kicks off week after next. I will be attending the Harvest of Magic convention, but do not attend magic club meetings because of the distance/time required. The nearest meeting place would require a minimum 1.5 hour drive, perhaps more since the meeting time coincides with the tail end of rush hour. The farthest would be at least two hours. Them's the breaks for livin' in the boonies, don't you know?! To my knowledge there are no brick and mortar magic stores in the Atlanta metro area. There were several in years past. The last to go was eventually pushed into a small corner in one end of a costume/novelty shop. Av

I'm in Evanston, Illinois. Ring 43 meets just blocks from here and magic, inc is a train ride away. And the Chicago magic lounge is close

From what I see around me not particularly warm or open. "Magic club, we don't need a stink'in club..." - Unheard dialogue from Treasure of the Sierra Madre. But I remain open minded and hopeful.....

We have two local magic clubs. The Penn State Performing magicians. And the local IBM ring which I was a founding member. I have very little to do with either. I think you have to be in Penn State or be an alumn to join. As for the IBM group. They are a great bunch of guys, but somewhere along the line history was changed. And I don't mean a little bit, I mean the entire history of our club was changed. Not sure when or by whom but it was enough to piss me off. I think only one of the founding people have anything to do with the club anymore. The rest either moved, died or got pissed enough to give it up. But really it is a great group of people.

There are SAM and IBM magic clubs in Seattle, but much too far away from where I live. When I first arrived here and introduced myself, none of the members of either club were particularly welcoming. Except for one old-timer who had real-world experience, and has since died. So I simply haven't bothered to go back.

There's an IBM ring 40 miles away in South Bend IN. But I often don't find what I'm looking for in formal clubs. There's an informal club 40 miles West, but there's not much going on there. Luckily Chicago is only 90 miles away and I can take the train in for $9 round trip (senior citizen discount!). So there's lots going on if I make the journey to the "Windy City." I wish there were a few people close by that I could jam with. But no such luck... That's why Saturday TMF sessions are very worthwhile. Mike

Wow, that's a great deal. My city doesn't even have a train station, and my last city didn't either.
