For years now, I have finished Vernon's Travellers with the appearance of the final, signed card from my old reliable Balducci Wallet. (I use a Derek Dingles Lightening Card to Wallet for the placement - truly great handling). So first, the merits of finishing The Travellers with a card to wallet, has been the topic of much debate. I will simply say, that it works for me. Thoughts and observations welcome.
It is with sadness that I report that I have recently lost my Balducci Wallet, and am faced with replacing it. I find myself confronted with dozens of different wallets, and ads the extols the virtues of each one. Can anyone make some candid, field tested observation on their preferred wallet - and why?

I have not tried them all but I love the JOL Large Wallet I bought from Propdog in the UK. Dave Bonsall is a great gut and offers great service.
http://www.propdog.co.uk/jerry-o-connell-london?product_id=6764 He also makes and sells the " Bonsalope" designed for the wallet - it is a pre-treated (glued) envelope for placement in the wallet to conclude the C2W effect very easily. I know you can make you own but these are not all that expensive and for those like me who are "Arts and crafts" challenged, well worth the money. FWIW and YMMV. I'm a big fan of Steve Draun's "Real Man's Wallet." It's a hip pocket style wallet, so you don't need a jacket to use it. The card ends up in the photo compartment which is opened using a snap. John Armstrong uses one on some of his videos.
It can be used as your "real" wallet too which overcomes the feeling that it's a magic prop. For a platform performance I like a Balducci with a sealed envelope for added conviction. Mike

There is much to be said for these wallets but if you do magic seated at a table an ordinary wallet can be used.
My friend Johnny Benzais (also a good friend of Harry Lorayne) who died much too young, explains this in his book "The Best of Benzais" on page 52. I've also noted some routines with a regular wallet on the Perverse Magic thread of the Genii Forum on June 1, 2008 and the December 1989 issue of Apocalypse on page 1720.

Working behind the bar I always used Tony Miller's Hip Shot Wallet. I am on my third wallet. When I was strolling I used a Jennings style wallet. It is late and that is the only name I can think of. It is a card to envelope wallet. Over the years I have purchased many different wallets. I have had the Wakeman wallet which is a very nice wallet but it was to thin for me. It got lost in my inside pocket. Being a big guy I have bigger jackets which tend to have bigger inner pockets. The wallet I use is wider than the Wakeman wallet. I would suggest talking to your friends that have wallets and ask to see them and compare them to see what will work best for you.

When working with a jacket, I'll use the JOL large wallet. Getting a card into the slot is stupidly easy.
When strolling without a jacket, I'm partial to the Draun wallet.

I have the JOL Small Wallet - love it!!!
I also had the JOL Small No-Palm Wallet. The thing works like a champ. However, I since started performing Paul Gordon's "Workers Supreme" and the JOL Small Wallet allows for palm or no-palm to wallet. So, I sold the No-Palm after I bought the other one.

Another fan of the Steve Draun's "Real Man's Wallet." It's simple, it works, and pulling it out of the photo compartment is pretty darn mysterious.

I use Steve Draun’s “Real Man’s Wallet” and have found great success with, it however I only use it with a jacket with an inside jacket pocket. This not only covers all angles but allows you to load it much quicker than in your back pocket. Plus keeping your wallet in a jacket pocket keeps it from deteriorating.
