Very cool!  Well, actually it was hot, but you know what I mean.  I loved the flash, that really startled them.  Great back story too!  And perfect for Halloween.

Nailed it!

Thanks @rayj

Its a great little trick and has lots of room for creativity in the presentation. I really did get that magic word “fiat” from Discoverie of Witchcraft (see screenshot). Since our currency seems to be worth about as much as the paper it’s printed on, I felt like “fiat” would play nicely as a “magic word” that turns a worthless penny into an equally worthless steel penny.

By the way, there is some seriously strange stuff in that book. Its no wonder that those who practiced witchcraft had people creeped out.

Bumping this thread.  If you are a subscriber to Reel Magic Magazine and haven't, take the time to watch Rudy's last couple of installments of Apocalypse Now.  If you aren't a subscriber, do yourself a favor and do it, now!

The reason I'm bumping the thread is to remind people that after the trick explanations Rudy incorporates interview segments with Harry Lorayne.  They are priceless.  How often do you get to listen to an icon of our art talk about their life?

From memories of his childhood to his military service to New York City restaurants, it should not be missed.

As far as I'm concerned, I've got enough tricks, I could use more of these entertaining interviews.

One last thing.  There has been discussion on the forum recently about playing cards, their cost, etc.  Many magicians don't bat an eye at paying $10.00 for the latest and greatest deck of cards.  For half that amount you can become a subscriber to Reel Magic Magazine and get Rudy's contributions, the back issues, the lectures, Tuesday Night Tricks and more!

Talk about a no-brainer.

Thanks for "them kind words," RayJ.  My first thoughts when Rudy asked me to do the interviews was that my stories might bore the heck out of some. But from the reaction I've been getting  it seems that people are interested. I guess I should have realized that because of the reactions I got waaayy back when I ran some of those "pieces" in APOCALYPSE.

Harry, I mean it when I say it is a privilege to hear the interviews.

There is an Ed Marlo video, I think it might be the one put out by Randy Wakeman, where Ed is interviewed.  It isn't nearly long enough.  There is so much more I would have like to have known about him through his own words.

I could say the same about many magicians that sadly are no longer with us.

So I consider myself lucky to have had the chance to not only hear the stories from you personally, but to have the opportunity to converse with you here on the forum.

Thank you and thanks to Rudy for making it happen!
Ray

Also worth mentioning that when Reginald Scot was using the term "fiat," it would've been understood by his audience as a biblical allusion to the Genesis creation story. "Let there be light" was "Fiat lux". (The King James translation hadn't come along yet, and the Latin Vulgate was still the main version out there, in Scot's era.)

And, this is in keeping with the nice flash effect you have here.

Thank you so much for your encouraging words, Ray! I'm so glad that you like it! I've heard from some other folks that they're really enjoying the interviews too.

The fact that I get to hear these stories from Harry, first-hand, is an incredible privilege and honor.

Rudy
