I just realized I've been hanging out here just over a year.

I hope I've been able to say some value-added things, because I certainly have enjoyed what others have posted!

I made a very short excursion to FB just now and scurried back here before my head exploded with all the insane stuff going on. It's very nice to have a place to go to that has absolutely NONE of that nonsense! So... thanks to Rudy and all the admins for that.

So that brings me to my second comment...

Over the weekend, I had an issue with the forum, and wanted to send an email to "Admin", but that wasn't an option, and I wasn't sure how to find out who might be one, although I had a couple ideas. Av happened to get online and I hit him up for help, so that worked 😉

So I'm wondering how hard it would be to have a 'group' email for the admins so that if someone is here and has a problem, they can just send an email to "Admin(s)" and whoever might be around would get it and be able to help?

Just a thought...

Dave,

Happy anniversary. Yeah, the internet can be a frightening place sometimes... I'm with you; this is a great forum where we can all behave ourselves and share our mutual love for magic.

We've discussed something just like you mention, but I'm not sure how far along it's gotten. Bear in mind that you can click on a profile page and send an email to an admin or two. I know that me, Wayne T, and Luigimar are fairly active and regularly monitor the board, sometimes moderating, but usually in the background. We communicate with one another and are generally aware of what's up. There are a couple of other mods, but I'm not sure how regularly active they are. Oh, and of course Rudy's usually out there somewhere, too!

So, until - and if - we get an admin notification up and running, just drop an email to one of the three mods mentioned above, or perhaps all three if the problems needs prompt attention, and we'll get back to you as quickly as we can.

Thanks for bringing it up and for making the suggestion! Glad I was available for you over the weekend!

Dave,

Glad you're enjoying your stay.  I'm on frequently, just not compelled  to write a lot.  A mod can help with some things, even if it means getting word to Rudy.

It is really, really nice to have someplace to go where people aren't screeching at each other.  Plus, this is a great place with friendly and smart people who are very giving of their knowledge and skill. As a beginner, I mostly just lurk, or more accurately I try to read and learn enough not to ask too many stupid questions.

I think the only stupid questions, are those not asked and answered with respect and dignity.

Never be afraid of learning because the day we stop learning, is the day we stop living.

I always tell my students that if they have a question then I want them to ask it, because probably at least half the class will benefit from hearing the answer.

When I was studying Tai Chi, some of the advanced teachers would take us back to the very simplest, basic moves and get us to realize that we didn't understand them as well as we thought we did.  Sometimes a question about something very basic can trigger new insights for learners at all levels.  There is a Zen saying: "Zen mind, beginner's mind".
