The story: 39 years ago I lived in Monterey California and was introduce to Magic at Zucchini’s Tricks & Things on Cannery Row. I met Bryan Whitehead the owner and magician and since then we have been good friends. Fast forward to 2020 and the Corona virus outbreak.
I called Bryan to check to see how he was doing during these trying times. Not surprised he said this is very tough times and I am not sure Zucchini’s Tricks and Things would be able to weather the storm. My heart dropped, but I quickly responded... Lets make the first VIRTUAL MAGIC SHOP! So, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls I give you Zucchini’s Tricks & Things virtual magic shop. Enjoy and if we can answer any questions or demo any magic let us know.

Will

Hi Everyone, you may remember Will Roberts from a few videos that we did together called the Magician’s Forum LIVE! It’s actually where I got the name for our most recent event [wink]

I spoke to him on the phone yesterday and he told me all about this new magic shop that he put together. I was the one who suggested that he stop by and tell our members about it. I like the idea of creating a more personal shopping experience that strives to give us that feeling that we get when we’re in a brick and mortar shop.

My only connection to this store is my friendship with Will. I’m not in any way financially tied to his shop.

Rudy

I wish Will good luck. As an owner of a brick and mortar shop in the 1990's I remember when I ordered anything new I had no idea if it was going to be any good so I think it's a great idea of a live demo if somebody wants to see an effect before purchasing.

I agree - you learn so much more from a live demo than from a video trailer/ad that has been edited, sliced and diced to a fare-thee-well.  And a conversation with the person behind the counter can lead to purchases that are really suited to one's skillset and style.

I'm the only one who has answered YES to the question above, so I should say where I worked...

It was at my local magic store 35 years ago (1985, WOW!)

I worked there for about a year. Then they closed it and my job was gone... I was 18-19 years old when this happened.

I have to say Al Cohen of Al's Magic Shop in D.C. was the best demo man behind the counter, ever. Every demo was a sale.

Al was the best in my book as well, Harry.

Agree with the above two posts. Al was the best. I would compare Paul Richards as second and Mark Mason probably third in the ones I have seen demo items at magic conventions. Howie Schwarzman would always fool me with anything he showed.
