That looks really good! That could come in very handy!
Have you used it in any routines?

I've never heard of the book, but I'll have to keep my eyes peeled.

Thanks for sharing this with us.

Rudy

Hi Rudy, I don't currently use it in any effects but it's a nifty little spread, very deceptive, easy to do, and will fry other magicians if you use it in place of a 4 as 3 count.

Oh that is clever!  Somewhere in my library there is a version of Quick Three-Way that uses a fourth card - this would fit perfectly.

Thanks for sharing.

French Pasteboards is available direct from Mike Caveney ($15), along with many other of his excellent books still in print:

That is clever and deceptive, magicfish, and nice, clean handling.  I would think good for frying magicians or laymen.  I am sure there are many good applications for it, including the one Robin mentioned.

Got my little brain working as to how I might use it. I think that after controlling a selected card (or alternatively forcing a card) I would remove from the deck 3 cards opposite in color from the selection, plus the selection.  I would probably use 3 spot cards if the selection was a court card, and 3 court cards if the selection was a spot card, thus providing a striking contrast as in the video.

After telling the spectator, "I am going to show you three of my favorite cards.  Please don't tell me whether any of them is your card."  After doing the spread display just as in the video, I would turn the packet face down and ask them to hold out their hand.  Then I would remove the top face down card of the packet (their card) and place it face down into their hand, saying, "You know I have the strongest feeling that this one is your card," and ditch the other three cards by placing them on the deck and casually cutting the deck.

Of course they will protest that it is not their card, maybe even pointing out that none of the "three" you showed them was their card. The denouement is of course, up to each magician, but I would be likely to say something like, "Looks like I am going have to use real magic."  Snap fingers, wave hand over the card they are holding and voila.

It would be quite strong - at least I think so...
