Who else can get away with jokes like this??  And it's *hilarious* when he does it!
Watch from 5:58 to about 6:05.

It's funny how some people can tell jokes or make comments and they can get away with just about anything, others not so much.  He has a quip on the same DVD series about waking up in the morning... I'll leave it at that, but funny.

This clip is from a totally different point on the time-space continuum than where we exist.

Too bad.......

SpareTopChange -- Thanks for posting that clip! No doubt Bill Malone will always be considered an incredible entertainer/magician in the years to come, regardless of current mores and social trends.  Although we may be able to perform some of the great magic created by guys like Bill Malone, Dani DaOrtiz, and Harry Lorayne (just to mention a few), we will never be able to truly duplicate their unique styles of presentation, which in many respects are as significant as the magic they have created.  It's also impressive that magicians continue to find new, unique ways to showcase their magic. Thanks again for the inspiration (and levity)! -- johnny

JohnnyNewYork- Agreed on all counts.  I think one of the points that's often mentioned in the (largely pointless) books vs. dvd debate is along the lines of, "DVDs are bad since they teach you to imitate the presentation of the performer on the DVD.  Books force you to think about your own presentation."  This is true to an extent, but it misses the fact that DVDs often show you how a performer can take a seemingly dull effect and present it superbly.  Bill Malone does this all the time.  He also shows you how to take simple effects and make them really funny!

I remember reading about a poker deal effect when I was little and thinking that it was a novice's effect that wouldn't fool anyone.  Then decades later I saw Harry perform it on one of his Best Ever dvds and people loved it!  Had I not seen this, I never would have given this effect a second thought.

Well now I've gotten off topic...

Intensely Magic- I know what you mean about the space-time continuum.  Somehow I think Bill Malone could still get away with this though!

Tom G- Do remember which DVD or which effect had that joke?
