What kind of card effects do you do to show that your using " body language & NLP "or, just presenting an effect that looks like you are reading others body language to find there card. Poker Tells would be a good example of this..

I think any pick a card effect can be used  to this effect.

I do Darwin Ortiz's Liars Poker for Poker tells, what is other effects that lend themselves to look like your readings someone's body language ? Or, your presentation ideas on this matter..

Best,

Logan

Christian Schenk has a nice effect that could easily be adapted to this presentation: while the magician looks away, the volunteer selects a card and then she this lays this card and four others face up on the table.  The magician considers the cards and one by one eliminates all but the selected card.

Chris's method is clever, works from a shuffled deck, and never requires the magician to handle the cards.  I won't explain it here but you can construct any number of methods that fit the bill.

Presenting this as reading the volunteer's body language as she holds her hand over each card in turn would be a piece of cake - and I suspect that many people would accept it as real.   But therein lies the rub - if people accept that reading body language in this way is plausible, is there any magic?

Ian Rowland has a fantastic piece on this presentation, I think he taught it in his penguin lecture. The actual method is incredibly simple, but you end up really engaing the audience, making it a big show. I use it when I want to involve a large crowd. They can't always see the faces of a card, or a coin or a rubber band, but they can listen and play along. Very strong.

Not certain if this counts, but... I took an old effect of Harry Lorayne's called Voice Print, modified it "sleightly"  and wrote a script around the movie Blade Runner. In case you are unfamiliar with the movie, it involves specialized detectives in the future who use a technique called Voight-Kampf to determine the difference between actual humans and replicants, or human clones. My conceit is using Harry's basic effect to read a spectators eye movements and body language to determine the identity of their card. Not a lot of heavy lifting, but the story and blocking, combined with the effect, create what Bannon refers to as a high Pain to Glory ratio.

Interesting that you mention Voice Print. I'm just in the throes of writing that up (along with It's Not Easy To Lie) - slightly different handling, etc., for JAW DROPPERS TWO.

Excellent, Harry! I look forward to seeing what you've done with it. The effect as written in BoF is a real gem. I performed it as written for years and always with great success.
