Hi Hitlab,

I'm in the same boat. My interest is in mentalism methods and routines that can be co-opted into the performance of magic. I have found Barrie Richardson's Theater of the Mind to be an excellent book with a mix of magic and mentalism.

John Bannon's Mentalissimo, one of the best books of 2016, is chock full of card routines that suggest the performer is clairvoyant.

Banachek (Steve Shaw) has a number of manuscripts and DVDs. Much of his work is quite bold and well-regarded.

Tony Corinda's 13 Steps to Mentalism is foundational and guaranteed to get your wheels turning.

Though I do not own any material by Richard Osterland, he has earned a reputation as a leading performer and teacher. He produced a series of DVDs based on Corinda's 13 Steps. L&L is having a big sale right now and several of his DVDs are on sale

Other names you might want to check out: Max Maven, Lee Earle, Ken Dyne, Luke Jermay, Looch, David Berglass, Bob Cassidy and the O.G., Theo Annemann.

For inspiration, I suggest you watch the filmed theatrical performances of Derren Brown on YouTube. His work is highly entertaining.

T. A. Waters' Mind, Myth, and Magick. Hard to find and expensive but absolutely one of the best and, at over eight hundred pages, is literally encyclopedic in content.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will probably start with Bob Cassidy's fundamentals.

I am going to second the suggestion that you consider Max Maven's body of work. Lots of great stuff from which to choose. He's got a big video project coming up soon - It was announced in his Genii vlog back in the fall. In the meantime there's books and video galore. Multiplicity is recommended.

13 Steps will give you a foundation of the principles in Mentalism.
You should have this book.
You may not choose to use or even explore everything in the book, but for what you will, it's solid information.
