Wonderful effect by Harry.  This is perfect for those who get nervous, shaky hands, etc. since the only "move" is being able to hold a break.  Otherwise the routine has audience interaction, the ability to customize patter and a kicker ending.
What more could you want?  And as always, great explanation by Rudy.  BTW, the set up is minimal and well worth the effect you generate, IMHO.

Well taught, Rudy; thank you, Sir.   Coupla' points - in my write-up I do/teach a perfect(?) rationalization for moving that 2nd-from-top card from there to bottom of the packet. And, the Charlier Shuffle is fine, always is - but if you wanna' make absolutely sure that your spectators will swear that the packet is shuffled - do my Utility Mixer a couple of times. That is also taught in JAW DROPPERS TWO. It's probably the most used - by me - "utility" item.

Thanks Harry!! Yes, your Utility Mixer is fantastic. I should’ve taken the opportunity to teach it there in the explanation of Cal-Q-Lator. Johnny NewYork covers it in volume one of the HaLo Project - The Magic of Harry Lorayne.

I would encourage anyone who does not have Jawdroppers volume two, to get it while you can!

Harry’s books are full of gems just like this one!

Hi MagickDon,

This link is available to anyone who is directed to this forum by watching the Magician's Forum LIVE!

There are no keywords that would direct the public to the tutorial on YouTube. For that reason, I believe that it's safe to say that the only ones who will watch it are magicians who view the show.

Great question!

Rudy

In answer to a couple of phone calls - I haven't checked, but the effect here is probably the only one (or perhaps two or three) of the effects/routines in JAW DROPPERS TWO that requires a set-up.  Ya' gotta' start reading the good stuff, guys!!!

A fantastic effect from a fantastic book. I love That's the Truth! I love Cal-Q-Lator . How does a man decide? What a wonderful problem to have.

Lie Detector routines are always fun to do. Don't know whether it's worth mentioning, but here's a thought for the break procedure. Rather than have the card removed simply ask them to touch one. When they do out jog it for about half its length and as the hand moves moves back with the rest of the cards spread another three as you say "You could have touched any one" then close the spread retaining the break below the three.  Now lift the packet up asking people to remember the card selected as you turn your head to one side. Once they have it, push the card back down into the packet, lower the packet and turn back your head back. Just a thought for consideration.

Great effect! Thank you for sharing.

You could also control it to 4th from the top. Then do a “Deal or Switch” count down through the cards. Use the 2nd from top card to scoop everything up. You’re now in position to start with the reverse faros.

Agreed. But unfortunately "tinkering" can sometimes "not help" the good stuff.
