Here's an easy trick that works well for kids. It's from Mark Wilson's Course in Magic.

I performed this last Sunday at my church.

I noticed she misidentified the queen for a jack. A lot of gender confusion these days 😉   But since she mentioned a jack she knew cards. I always though a two value like 2H or an ace were safer value cards to force on kids.

Some of the classics like "Cards Across", "The Homing Card" 'Six Card Repeat" are good for kids.

You can't count on kids or even adults at times to know about cards. Some are brought up in homes where they don't play cards. I've had adults look at me quizzically when I ask if their card was a "picture" card for example. Rudy handled it well!

Oh I quite agree, plenty of adults don't know card suits or get confused if you talk about court cards and pip cards. Wasn't for a moment suggesting Rudy handled it badly.

But did think this was a new thread about card tricks for kids 😉

Yes, should have known better than to use the queen of hearts. The reason why I chose it for this particular performance is because I used a forcing deck which happened to be made up of the queens.

When I was showing her the difference between a club and a spade...the spade card that I showed her was the jack of spades. That was the card that she somehow thought that she supposed to remember. I wasn't clear enough for her.

I've done this trick a couple hundred times and have only had this happen one other time.

Anyway, lesson learned 😉
