Events such as this Covid-19 outbreak can bring out the worst in folks or the best in folks.

I see it as an opportunity to help people in need.  Supporting magicians, who are now out of work, is a great idea as represented in the thread concerning what can be done to help in these tough times.

But please don't forget your neighbors.  Yesterday, my wife phoned a neighbor just to check in on them.  She said they were thrilled with the call and the concern.  Turns out they did need something and we were able to help.

These neighbors have two children, both of whom live in other states.  So they really have no other support system.  There's lots of people that are in that category.

So do something kind today.  Ask older neighbors how they are and if they could use something.  Just reaching out benefits you and makes all the difference to them.

Being kind brings magical results.  It truly does.

Our local restaurants are now take-out only. We've decided to choose a restaurant or two each week to patronize. The first was one my second-oldest daughter works at. Or worked, since she serves and isn't needed now. The owner is kind and is taking all of the tips and dividing them up among the laid-off workers.

If you have a favorite local restaurant or two and are financially able, consider helping them with some business. I can tell you they will appreciate it. I had a nice chat with the owner and he was genuinely grateful that we chose to support them.

Good point Ray ---

I made our 'normal' weekly trip for calzones and the pizza place was obviously now not set up for dining-in, but didn't seem to have a lot of orders up either, so I'm going to hit them more often -- it's a family place.
