Hey guys.  I'm in need of your help again.  My brother is student teaching in High School History.  He is trying to use magic to keep the students engaged.  Now keep in mind that he doesn't have much magic experience.

He has to teach about the Domino Theory and Communism.  He was looking for a trick where all the cards change color.  I had trouble finding that.  So I suggested a color changing deck trick.

Do you guys know of any easy color changing deck tricks?  I'm hoping Harry has one.  Personally, I've never really gotten into color changing tricks, so I'm not well versed in them.  Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Back to the books!

Hi!

Part of this effect is a deck that changes the color of its backs. I don't know if it is what you are looking for. From what I remember it is not difficult to do.

I hope it helps...

I think an Oil and Water or Follow the Leader type effect would work better. There are a few slight lite O&W effects (Woody Aragon’s fro Book in English comes to mind). For Fillow the leader, check out Giobbi’s version in Card college Lightest and one of his Penguin videos

Starting with a relatively easy, direct blockbuster........

The Color-Changing Deck - Harry Lorayne - The Magic Book (Pages 111-115)

For more advanced handling, including a Triumph effect.......

Color Triumphant - Derek Dingle - Dingles Deceptions, written by Harry Lorayne (Pages 3-9)

It's so darn hard to get people aware of the color of the deck in the 1st place. Even a change in deck size isn't noticed as much as you would think.

Scripts that emphasize the deck color sound lame and I'm not sure really work that well.

Any good solutions for this?

I'll recommend Doug Conn's Chameleon Sandwich again. No need to emphasize the deck color as in so many CCD routines.

Chameleon Sandwich is really good, and builds in a bunch of subtle reinforcement of the deck's original color. But for the purposes of the original poster's brother, simpler may be better.

One solution to the problem Intensely Magic identifies is to make it transform into a Rainbow Deck, since a deck of any one color will be "just a deck" to a layman but a Rainbow Deck is a notably strange artifact.

That's a great idea, Chris.  Plus, Rainbow Deck is easy to do.  However, I would advise doing a couple of simple tricks prior to Rainbow Deck, to first cement the idea that the deck is normal.

Nice job Rudy! Hopefully, anyone who wasn't familiar with the routine now can see what an excellent CCD routine it is.

All those shows of red! Plus an excellent sandwich effect along the way. It's the best CCD routine I know.

Nice demo, Rudy!  And I must agree, Mike, that this is an excellent CCD routine.  Like you said, all those flashes of red backs … Very convincing!
