Anyone have any ideas etc on being able to ask a spectator to chose a colour from a selection and then be able to guess which one they had chosen?

Is this just a fishing expedition? Force the colour.

Pick up Annemann's little booklet "202 Methods of Forcing".

Basically I saw a magician in the weekend and he performed a trick where he had a small Rubik's cube keychain, he asked me to chose a colour and have it face up on my hand with the other hand on top, whilst I did this he had turned around, he would then turn around and would instantly guess what colour I had chosen! I'm so in love with this trick and really want to learn how he did it!

So many possibilities!

Is it a dealer item? Did you ask?

Was the key fob or clip visible when he turned around?

Equivoque?

Fishing?

A force?

Multiple outs?

Gimmick?

Hi Luke,

There is a great routine on a DVD set called, "Between 2 Minds" by Guy Bavli and Haim Goldenberg that has an incredible effect called "Color Detector" taught on it.

"A spectator is asked to freely draw 3 shapes in 3 different colors. You then predict it." It's a parlor effect that could easily be made into a close up effect. The method is absolutely brilliant and completely out of the box. It will fool you when you watch it.

Thank you Rudy! Will check that out

And the key ring was not visible as before he turned back around he asked me to place my hand firmly over the top to cover it

I am trying to remember about Lee Earle's Aura Cards, whether it was a dealer item or, if it was in one of his books. Perhaps you can Google it.

I'm pretty sure I saw an online lecture recently where someone was using paint colour cards (swatch cards).
In fact, I'm pretty sure he'd made some fake ones up on card stock to make them easy to handle etc
Nice idea - apologies i can't remember the credit/source!
