Having never done this before, I'm unsure of what to look for/request. If I need a stock many of the same card - the Jack of Diamonds, say - for a trick that will be oft-repeated and uses just that card, what should I do?

Ken,

If it doesn't matter what the card is you can order a forcing deck, which is 52 cards the same. If it matters the card you can ask if they have that card in a forcing deck.

You can do a routine like Kenton Knepper does with all 52 cards, instead of a blank deck, you can use your 52 card deck of all the same cards in this manner.

OK, so "forcing deck" is the way to go if I want a deck of all the same card? Got it. Thanks. I thought that might be the case.

Cheers!

A 'One Way forcing deck' to be precise!  Not to be confused with a 'One Way deck'.  Similar names, completely different thing.  You can get both from most retailers including penguin and vanishing inc which I think are the 2 most popular sites people shop at from what I see.

Got it. Just ordered a One-Way Forcing deck. Thanks.

Logan, thanks. I'm not actually looking to use the deck for anything except to supply me with the card I need for a trick where the card gets destroyed every time.

But since I've never used a one-way deck, I'll keep that in mind.

Cheers!

Woah, it's probably just a misspelling there, but a gentle reminder not to order a one-way deck when you actually want a one-way forcing deck, as I said above.  Could be a waste of money!
