Hi everyone.

I came across this back in 2007 when it first came out (created by Nate Kiewel, not me).  I had been searching for something about Faro shuffles (can't recall what), and found this site shown below.  I've been doing Faro shuffles since early 1990's, but I wanted to explore deeper back then.  Since then, I have taught a few other magicians to practice with the cards face up, whether they do perfect Faros or just standard riffle shuffle.  I do a routine that uses typical riffle shuffles (and the spectator can even do the shuffling), then you locate their card.

On this site, you can choose new deck or a number of stacks.  Then choose In or Out Faro.  You can even click on a card, move it with the arrows, then Faro and follow where it goes, and you can even enter your own custom order of cards, then Faro.  This saves the effort of having to rearrange the cards multiple times while just studying what's happening.  Of course once you understand what's happening, you can make more effective practice time with actual cards.

Hope you find this useful.

Tom

Thanks for the link.

It would be great if it worked also with custom decks with any number of cards, not necessarily 52 (at least, I did not find this feature).

I know you can type custom order of 52, but maybe you can contact him to make a different version with more cards.

I know back before I found this, I was working on something in Excel that would show a few faros in successive columns.  I stopped working on it after finding that link.

I have e-mailed Nate, the creator of the Faro Simulator.  He said he will try to think of a method to allow for more cards (probably has to be an even number).  I will keep you informed if he figures out something.

Thanks, Tom.

I believe it is a useful feature to be able to set a custom deck with any (even) number, either greater or smaller.

It is not a restriction that the number of cards has to be even, since the formulas (more or less) coincide for one card less or more.
