Hi,
Im a born again magician.
i started magic in college but after I started raising a family I stopped magic until I retired. (About 10 years ago.) I worked in a pharmaceutical company for 35 years as a research chemist.
I consider myself an intermediate magician.
i perform at festivals, gatherings, schools, etc.
All pro bono.
My other interests are tennis, video, photography, Photoshop, database development, chess. Soccer but I don’t play anymore.

i got interested in magic when I had to give a presentation in a psychology class.
The topic was "How the brain percieves what the eye sees"
As part of my presentation I bought a cheap magic trick at Woolworths and showed the class.
The reactions were amazing and from  that time I was hooked.
I was a regular at my local magic shop. Mecca Magic.

Howdy! Welcome aboard. Your journey isn't at all unusual. So many of us momentarily lose our magic mojo while working our way through life. Fortunately my separation wasn't nearly as long as yours, but it's all relative. Join in the conversations. Make yourself right at home, except, no feet on the furniture, okay?!

Welcome aboard Ihop.  First, tell us about your name.  Is that because you like pancakes? [biggrin]
Second, I am another that took a hiatus from actively performing.  I kept my chops in shape by practicing sporadically, but for the most part was idle.

Great group here, have fun and don't be shy!

Welcome, Ihop --- as with many others, I took a break while pursuing interests associated with work. Came back 7 years later.

I'm positive you will enjoy your time here.

A warm welcome from Australia, Ihop. It sounds like you’ve taken retirement by the horns and squeezing everything you can from it (sorry about the ugly mixed metaphor). Looking forward to hearing more from you on TMF.

Greetings Ihop, welcome to our group. I am sure you will find that this site is a very friendly one. Many lively discussions. Do you concentrate on any area of magic?   😉

About my name!
Im Ukrainian and in English my name is Ihor. The Russian equivalent is Igor. But Ukrainians and Russians don’t get along well.
We use the Cyrillic alphabet where the English "R" is the Ukrainian "P"
I thought it would be cool to use a mix and "Bam" ,  Ihop
And I also like pancakes.

Ee- gor is Russian.

Thanks for the correction!  [biggrin]

Some might have recognized my question as a quote from Mel Brooks' movie Young Frankenstein.  Hysterical movie like most of Mel's work.

Hello,

I'm originally from NJ and spent a bit of time at Mecca digging through all the stuff in the side walls that were crammed with magic...looking for gold.
I moved to Albany, NY about 10 years ago and got married.
Welcome aboard, I think you'll like it here. Very helpful people all around.

EvilDan.

Saturday Sessions are announced in advance. You only need to sign up and you will receive a link to participate; there's no cost. Lectures are announced in advance as well, and require a small payment, usually in the neighborhood of $5.00. The price is a real bargain for the quality and quantity of material. We've had lectures by Harry Lorayne, Paul Gordon, Steven Youell, and Frank Zak, just to name a few.

Nothing's scheduled at present, but keep your eyes peeled for future announcements!
