Hi folks
In the ‘70s I purchased Gamble Amble from Tanners. Recently came across it in my stuff. I loved this packet trick from the first time I saw it. I plopped down my allowance on the spot. However I never knew who invented it. There was no creator credited in the instructions. Any ideas?

I have also seen variants of similar storytelling packet tricks over the years. Very similar ‘structures’. Anyone know the lineage (who begat who) of this cool trick?

Thx in advance

Probably no creator mentioned because it was a rip off of Oliver Mackenzie's "Drink Trick" . Ken Brooke's handling for it can be found in the book "Ken Brooke's Magic -The Unique Years" which  dates the effect as the late fifties, when Ken worked for Harry Stanley at unique Magic. Different stories and titles have appeared later depending on the backs of cards that could be compiled.Paul Daniels once mentioned it was one of his favorite packet effects (he also performed it on TV once).

Still available in England here: https://www.internationalmagic.com/product-2-my-drink-trick-oliver-mackenzie-1081.html

The packet trick book "Small but Deadly" in the chapter "Typsy Cards" records it was first advertised in Davenports 1956 magic catalogue. The fact it is still available must mean something 😉

I have the cards for Gamble Amble, but no instructions. Any chance you could help?

What's the effect of Gamble Amble? I'm not familiar with it.

It is a gambling theme, where the cards change to 4 Aces. I don’t know the entire effect and this is why I need instructions. Rennie

Multiple changes with a storytelling theme. Let me dig through my stuff and see if I have the instructions. Basically repetitive buckle counts with some nicely printed theme cards.
