A new edition of HEADHUNTER is now available.

The new HEADHUNTER comes with newly-designed cards that are striking, memorable and printed by USPC (and you get two sets). If you can Elmsley Count the trick is easy and over 70 photos make learning it almost automatic.

Email bammomagic@cogeco.ca for information and I'll send you the info and a free trick (no purchase necessary), OIL AND GAFFS, that one recipient has described as follows:

"The packet effect 'Oil and Gaffs' Mr. Farmer includes in his ad for Headhunters is a killer."--Leonard Hevia, Genii Forum

It is available only from me and not from dealers. $25 postage included for the U.S. and Canada, $27 elsewhere.

HEADHUNTER REVIEWS

B.B. "... Fantastic ... Excellent! Beautifully put together! ... Five stars!"

M.K. "One of the best effects that I have come across in … years ... in a class with Mike Skinner's 'Ultimate 3 Card Monte'”

J.B. "... a very strong and visual routine ... you get Bob's bizarre patter scheme, extensive details on each facet of the handling ... (and) ... the cards ... a fine routine ..."

P.D. "... thoroughly enjoyed the routine ... (will) ... use it."

D.M. "... It works great! Keep up the excellent work."

K.C. "... Excellent ... great plot ... brilliant ... off-beat..."

J.G. "... a bewildering and stunning effect."

F.M. "... (A) ... high caliber miracle ... that will have them rubbing their eyes in pure disbelief ... strong impact and immediate resetability ... with a finish that will leave them spellbound ... (you're) ... ready for the climax 30 seconds into the effect and ... ready to repeat the miracle 30 seconds after the shocking finish ... Highly recommended."

S.M. "... a delightful surprise ... Excellent. The visual effect is strong and ... your presentation is perceptive and cunning ..."

J.P. "... (Bruce Cervon) ... had never seen Bob's classic wild card routine ... Headhunter ... It's great! ... if someone with Cervon's savvy about what's commercial ... tells you it's great, it is."

J.R. "... beautifully done, rich in texture and technical detail ... Your presentation and handling takes the blowoff of Wild-Card and puts it into the Monte Game. Whatta way to go! ... Bravo!

L.W. "... a routine so carefully and thoroughly choreographed it will amaze lay people and magicians alike ..."

P.W. "... Another magnificently complete ... manuscript ... with lots of visual magic ... the handling and presentation are elegant ... highly recommended!"

I'm (im)patiently waiting by the mailbox for this... 😉

Although I AM having fun with "Oil & Gaffs" -- great freebie!!! -- it ticks a couple boxes for me in a packet trick: blanks and cards changing.

Mr. Farmer, your customer service is impeccable, sir. (And trust me, I have tried pecking it repeatedly.) I placed my order on Friday. It arrived today.

Thanks,

I wish all my deliveries were so quick but unfortunately I'm at the mercy of the post office so sometimes all goes well and other times it does not.

What's different about the new cards Bob? Different stock? Different faces?

The cards are printed by USPC, the design features a skull Joker (see the Genii ad) and the handling is vastly improved. Send me an email to bammomagic@cogeco.ca and I'll send you full details and a free trick--and that's an offer open to everyone.

Glad to hear, Dave. I felt a bit low for "bragging" about the speed with which mine arrive. As Bob said, USPS is a crapshoot sometimes!

Decided to wait on using the cards -- I've ordered the spray from Amazon that Bob suggests in the material. I've seen that in other material by him, and with the current flurry of packet tricks going on (an upswing?) -- I've decided to spray the cards before using them. I have a bunch of packets I'm looking forward to trying this with. I already have some of the powdered Teflon from a piano supply place and have found it works great. I'll report back my experience on spraying the cards.

Dave: Experiment with some old cards to get the treatment right. I hold the can about 12" from the cards and do one sweep one way and then another at right angles. Let that dry and repeat.

I searched, but I couldn't find a video.

I haven't done a video because I'm hopeless with video. There was a video online but it's now gone. Here's what the poster had to say after I commented:

"Bob Farmer commented: 'I am Bob Farmer, the inventor of this trick. This is the worst performance of my effect I have ever seen. This guy has no technique and has decided to do it his way, not my way. Just plain awful.'

"He requested that I take it down and I did immediately ...

"Then he goes on to say my music sucks as well."

When you buy one of my effects, you can be assured that I have tried out every way of doing the effect and have narrowed the method down to the best way. I've never understood why hopeless duffers feel it's their right to post video testaments to their incompetence.

Buffalo,

Trust Bob. Seriously. The man has a sterling reputation for solid, hard-hitting effects, and impeccable customer service. This, even though he is an attorney. Go figure. [biggrin]

Yeah -- while awaiting HeadHunter I bought some of the spray. I already had some of the powder.

The spray was dead simple -- dries really fast... did 2 coats both sides of eventually a bunch of packet tricks.

The powder I find actually trickier to use, but once you've got it on the cards and you work the cards a bit, they feel like they just came out of the box.

Time will tell as for the cards looking used, but I've been putting it on any new packets I build up.

Headhunter comes with a meticulous explanation of how to do it. Should be no problem working through it.

Funny little story regarding Head Hunters, and Tsunami and another effect of Mr. Farmer.  They were manuscripts a few pages long, stapled on the top corner. I’m sure Bob will correct me if I’m wrong, but I remember they were printed in black ink on red paper making them difficult to photocopy.  I am a huge fan of those effects, (forgive me because I forget the names and of the ones I remember I forget which goes which which).  I could, demonstrate them all.  I spent a long time with a dictionary and some arts and crafts tools in hand and a few cups of coffee making one in particular up.   I practiced and practiced until I got it smooth.  And in the store walks Richard Saunders who is also a friend and I showed him the effect.  He didn’t look overly impressed and he asked where I got it,  I pointed to the display where I kept the manuscripts.   He looked over and shrugged and then asked me for flashpaper which he knew I kept in the back.

So when I returned with the flash paper there he was, I caught him red handed looking through the manuscript very intently (cheap bastard) tying to soak up the method. We both laughed.  He did buy it, and I went ahead and stapled them all shut after he left.

Yes, both were printed on red paper."Headhunter" was in a booklet with covers and two staples in the spine. "Tsunami" was just red paper stapled in the corner. The dictionary effect was "Deja Voodoo," -- also on red paper with a staple in the corner. Harry Anderson used this trick to win a magician of the year award at the Magic Castle.

For information on these effects, including Anderson's work, and a free trick, email bammomagic@cogeco.ca

Bob Farmer fried me at the Stewart James Tribute in Toronto in 1990 with Deja Voodoo. I think I may have lost sleep that night.

I have a lot of Bob's original releases in the folders.  When I heard he had a new set of cards for Headhunter, I bought them immediately, great effect.
