I'm new to the forum and am coming back to magic after a hiatus of about 20 years.  I'm a physician and so am dabbling in magic as a hobby.

I look forward to interacting with everyone!

Best regards,

David

Welcome and welcome back!  Many of us have taken hiatuses from magic for extended periods.  I hope to stay back now.

Dabblers are welcome here.  I'm sure you will find lots to participate in.  What kind of tricks interest you?  Do you intend to use any magic in your practice.  I knew an extremely good physician (radiologist) who was also a great magician.
He organized performances at a local children's hospital and I always respected his work.

Hey David ...

We seem to be awash in "David"s … I had a hiatus as well for something like 7 years.

You're in very good company, and I'm sure you'll find this a great place to hang out.

Thank you!

I've always enjoyed card magic.  I'd also like to become more adept at coin illusions -- to always have something in my pocket ready to go.

I'm not sure I'll use any of it in practice; it would be hard to find the right moments.

Doctors are too busy during the work day to share magic with their patients, I get it.
I don't know what your specialty is.  I could see a pediatrician making good use of quick, visual tricks with new or shy patients or kids recovering in the hospital, etc.

It was just a thought.

BTW, I found this newpaper story about the doctor I referred to.  He was a good magician, a great doctor and an outstanding human being.  Hope you enjoy it.  He earned the recognition.

Welcome aboard, David. I started my professional career as a physician and ended up in management consulting.  I kept with magic during my doctoring years, but rarely performed. Started performing again during the consulting years.... there are so many senior executives of Fortune 100 firms who are into magic! I would perform all the time at private corporate functions.

TMF is really a terrific forum and loaded with so many talented and smart people who really like sharing with appreciative (and smart) people.

Again, welcome.

I enjoyed reading that. He sounded like a really good man who left a legacy of bringing joy to others.

A life well-lived.
