Hey everyone - my name is Harris Fellman. Nate Smith just let me know about the group (but please don't hold that against him ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

I've been at obsession level for about a year and a half, but feel I've come a really long way in a short amount of time. I've even managed to perform a few times (for free) at a number of coworking events here in Barcelona.

My grandfather owned a bar and taught me a bit of magic 40 or so years ago-- I kept a couple of basic tricks/sleights for all that time, bringing it out every now and again. Somehow, about 2 years ago when my dad (not grandfather) was passing, I found myself doing more and more card magic for people... then tipped my toes in the shallow end ... then binge watched 4 seasons of Penn & Teller Fool Us and, well, magic kidnapped me and made me it's b*tch. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have a successful online business that someone else mostly runs for me, so I have a lot of time on my hands -- or, well, I did until I decided to start an online magician's business as well (I'll spare you the info on that until I've been able to contribute more to the TMF community.)

I like it better than the 'green' forum already -- simply because there's a "Latest Topics" button -- okay, and people look friendlier here too... ๐Ÿ˜‰

Gawd, I haven't talked this much about myself since I was dating.

So, I have a strong online marketing background, I've done some acting back in the day (mostly comedic), I did a bunch of improv & sketch comedy as well. I'm heavy on the performance side of magic - although, strangely I find myself practicing moves way more than 'rehearsing patter'.

I love cards and card magic for some strange reason. I thought for sure I would take to coins and money magic, but cards keeps coming back into my hands.

Oh, yes, I'm originally from the U.S. - I'm "from" Miami Beach, Florida originally. I've lived in Minnesota, Los Angeles, Arizona, Costa Rica, and now here in Barcelona, Spain. Unfortunately, I'm not very plugged into the magic scene here. I've been nervous to visit the local club since I don't speak very good Spanish (or Catalan, the local language) ... hmmm, maybe I'm confident enough in my magic to go. I want to see people in person.

I have two magician friends here though that perform. I'm hoping the "Spanish School" concepts will rub off on me (thus far, it looks to be all about Passion, Practice, and Dedication ...)

I hope someone else on the forum is living in Europe. Would be great to connect.

Looking forward to meeting you all,
Harris

Welcome Harris!  The "Spanish School" is a great school to be associated with.  Your acting background is ideal for helping to present your magic.  I can also tall by the way you communicate that you will have no issue with patter.
So dive in and enjoy.  There are lots of helpful folks here.

I know nothing about the local club scene in your area but if it is anything like here in the U.S. you will find there are supporters and detractors.  I haven't been to a meeting in over 30 years so cannot say what it is like currently.

There will be opportunities here for you to participate in Saturday Sessions and you can socialize there!

Have fun!

Welcome Harris. Youโ€™ve come to the right place.

โ€œHeavy on the performance side...โ€ Harris this is a huge advantage. Iโ€™m at a stage where this is my focus too. Look forward to learning with and from you.

Regards
