Hello!

Let me just start by saying that I REALLY appreciate the welcome video. There are other places...let's just say...that don't foster a place where newcomers are welcome!

I am 51 years old and love this art. I'm relatively new to the craft and just recently (due to Covid) really started to put my learning hat on. I haven't performed anything, except for my wife and some other family members.

I'm a bit of a nerd, in that, I love getting into the nuts and bolts of how magic works. Things like theory in psychology, misdirection, etc. and principles in areas such as mem deck work and mathematical principles of card magic are fascinating to me.

I have recently committed the Redford stack to memory and can say with relative confidence that I know it cold now.

I'm definitely not pursuing the knuckle busting slights that are out there...not that I'm against this in general, in fact, I rather enjoy watching someone skilled in this area. I just know my limitations...I am getting a little old to be chasing skills that take years to master!!

I look forward to engaging as much as my knowledge allows. Thanks for letting me in!!

Welcome from Spain, Kevin.

Do you know what?
In this forum we all have our "nerd" side about magic, as many users love to talk about theory, psychology, misdirection, and principles in areas such as mem deck work and mathematical principles of card magic, just as you say ^_^

I wish you a lovely experience here!

There have been a load of magicians that never did knuckle busting sleights. So don't let that bother you.

Welcome, you'll fit in great here.

Welcome, and welcome to the non-knuckle-busting crowd. I have essential tremor and my complicated sleight days are over. I have found Rick Maue and Wayne Dobson to be inspirations, since both do wonderful magic without heavy sleights. Rick specializes in what he calls VdM magic - things so simple, Venus De Milo could do them.

As an aside, one of the USA's best table tennis coaches lives in Indiana. Danny Seemiller coaches out of a club in South Bend.
