Hi Everyone,

I'm very excited to announce that the next lecture for the Magician's Forum will be given by Jason Ladanye!!

If you've never seen Jason's magic, you're in for a treat. Listen to what Michael Vincent has to say about him.

"Jason Ladanye is a new and exciting international cardician whose passion for the subject is second only to the uninhibited skill he has worked hard to achieve. He brings a refreshing perspective to the subject – his material and virtuosity sparkles with raw power and energy."

I had the chance to speak with Jason this morning and it sounds like he has a great lecture in store for us. We'll be learning effects that weren't covered in his "At The Table" lecture as well as his thoughts on the construction of an entertaining and engaging effect.

The lecture will take place on May 6th at noon (Pacific) and will cost just $5.

I will be posting the link to register a little later this afternoon.

For more information on Jason and his magic, please check out his website.

http://www.cardmagicbyjason.com/

I'm grateful to Steve Christian (Stevie Ray) for contacting (and convincing) Jason to do this lecture of us.

More details to come!

Rudy

I am very excited for this event!

I started following Jason Ladanye (La-DAN-ee) on FaceBook about a year ago. The artistry, precision and quality of his magic and his marketing was remarkable. I believe he was a student of Darwin Ortiz. I met him a few months later when he lectured in North Hollywood. Jason's delivery and instruction was crisp and detailed. He taught a number of neatly phased and keenly motivated routines. Each revelation proved more stunning than the previous. He had terrific advice on getting the most out of practice sessions and building technique. He has new material and ideas to discuss on May 6th. I encourage everyone to register.

Be sure to visit Jason's website CardMagicByJason.com. His blog is well worth your time and he offers some great products. His At the Table lecture is loaded with gems and the Confident Deceptions 4 DVD set is tremendous. Check out the performance videos there and on his YouTube channel. Here is a routine titled The Big Stack:

My first exposure to Jason was through his on-line Murphy's lecture. It is really excellent. I am very impressed with his thinking, his card handling and his presentational skills. He's a total pro.

Hey everyone! Thanks for having me. I'll be posting more about the lecture shortly. I'm currently putting together a set of new material that can be performed in the online lecture format. So stay tuned and I'll post my set right here in this post!

Thanks again. And, if you have any questions before the lecture, post them right here!

Jason lives near me and I took a few private lessons from him for some sleights that I have always wanted to learn.
He's a great teacher. He went above and beyond to make sure I had the correct hand/finger placement and that I understood everything that he was teaching me.
Those few lessons expanded my card work immensely.

This is going to be a lecture not to be missed.

Thanks guys. Any questions you can think of, post them right here! And keep in mind, I'll be going over much more than just the mechanics of the tricks.

Jason,

Rather than questions, I have two requests.

You've written about your approach to practicing. I've taken quite a few cues from you in this regard. As with any fundamental habit (i.e. practice), it seems there's no such thing as too much emphasis--as long as the goals are clear. I believe most of us could benefit from your approach to maximizing the gains from practice. On May 6th, I hope you will share how you organize that time and what you expect throughout a session.

As for a specific technique, I watched you nail dozens of perfect faros during the course of your L.A. lecture. Richard Turner's Gold Seal Bikes have been helpful, as have Marlo's and Micheal Close's instruction. To quote Harry Lorayne:

"You'll have to practice [the faro] until you're ready to give up—that's when you'll get it."

Well, after a year of focus, I'm on the other side of "giving up," I'm just not ready to nail Ladanye's Triumph in public. Any ideas you can share on building faro skills and getting out of trouble ahead of disaster would be greatly appreciated.

I will be at work in the hospital all day tomorrow but don't want to miss this. I remember it being said but just want to confirm. If I pay for it and can't watch live, I'll still have access to it to watch later, right?

Mr. Ladanye is great, and for $5 how can I say no?

That's correct. You'll have the access to the video via a private link on Youtube.

Thanks for asking!

Watch this to the end...it's funny!

Looking forward to learning from him today!

Rudy -- Thanks so much for making this video available for us so quickly!  You did an awesome job once again, setting this lecture up and making sure everything ran smoothly -- I also really appreciate the fact that you managed to relay our questions to Jason during the lecture (which, by the way, was an incredible deal for the price!).  Jason Ladayne is an outstanding performer and thinker when it comes to close-up card magic, and his style of presentation was very clear and certainly informative.  He's not only a very practical, realistic performer but also  a guy with great chops at the card table!  Thanks again -- johnny

Thanks again guys. Thanks to Rudy for making everything run smooth and moderating the questions. I had fun performing in the comfort of my own card room. There were great questions from everyone and I look forward to doing another one in the future. Remember if you want any of these tricks in print, they came from my book, Confident Deceptions, and my Overpowered Lecture Notes both available here: http://www.cardmagicbyjason.com/store/
