In my next lecture, I'm going to cover substantial ground in the deployment and use of Key Cards. I'll be talking about different types of Key Cards, show some excellent Key Card Placements and teach a few tricks that actually use key cards that are above and beyond the normal standard effects. You know, the type that has the spectator deal through the cards and you stop him when he deals his? Well you can throw that one away now...

I'll also be talking about a very special Key Card that I've used for almost 20 years. It has superior properties to most other Key Cards and some of the placements and recoveries that are possible with it are easily worth several times the price of admission. It's one of the most versatile Keys you can find-- far more useful than a corner short.

More on the lecture content later!

Hi, Gracie.

What a lucky break for me. I've been working on Grey's Spelling Trick recently and have been giving a lot of consideration to how I approach positioning the chosen card. The ruse of letting the spectator see that their card is in the deck is okay, but I'm interested in exploring other ways. This sounds like a perfect lecture for me just now.

But, in spite of that, I love the simplicity of the K.C. and it excites me to see the nuances that can be applied to make it much more deceptive.

I'm in. See you on the 30th, my friend.

Rudy, is this just another invite on the day. Or do we register and pay up front?

Thanks

Andrew

The Key Card is a fantastic tool to have. It's one of those things that can easily be used even for folk who know the basic principle, and not be recognised, or even suspected. When used intelligently, it's probably one of the most useful tools in card magic.

Andrew, I see you're in Glasgow. If you ever decide to visit the Isle of Arran, let me know and we can meet up for coffee (or something stronger). I'll be happy to help with any routines you're working on.

Jim

You're from Arran, Jim, how lovely. That's a beautiful part of the world. Hope you're managing okay over there during this crisis.

I'll be sure to give you a shout next time I'm heading over. Who knows when that'll be now. Thanks very much for the offer. Appreciate it.

Take care for now.

Andrew.

This is something to look forward to.  Some magicians neglect to study the use of key cards to their own detriment.  They are a powerful weapon when used properly.

The key card has always been a potent tool in my card magic.  I love the versatility, it can be used in so many different ways... we are only limited by our imaginations when it comes to creating magic with a key card [wink]

Jim said this better than I could.  It's often overlooked or dismissed because it's seen as a beginner tool.  But when done well it can escape notice even from magicians.
