I am very new to card magic and making flaps.
And members of this forum have been SO kind and helpful!

I'd like other new card-folks to plan on making a few (many[smile]) cards.
Careful as you are, your first few won't be as pretty as they could be, and will be as you gain experience.

I watched several videos and thought, "Sure, I can do that!"
And then there were several "oops" as I got busy doing it.
Your first try is probably not a keeper.

SO...

Don't use up your best Queens, for example, at first. Practice on less important cards and you won't be so disappointed if they don't turn out so lovely and convincing.

(I bet y'all got some stories to tell!)

Is this a card with an elastic flap?
Never made one.
Never used one.

Or a flap like a partial double - but static?

Hi EvilDan,

Yes, I am learning to make elastic flap cards.

There are some videos to buy, but several good ones on YouTube.
Some are narrated in Chinese, Japanese, or Russian, with no subtitles, but I found them easy enough to learn from.

I don't know what a partial double is?

Flap, partial double, or a pocket card.
It’s kinda like showing a double, but you really have 2 1/2 cards and you only show one side of the device and only half thr other side.
